Non-transferable class

I'm currently trying to get into UCLA as a history major in 2013. I have a 4.0 in transferable GPA, have completed my major pre-reqs and will complete my IGETC work this fall.

The thing that is worrying me is a C in my non-transferable Algebra class. Will this factor into my application in any way?

It won’t, UC GPAs take your grades in your UC transferrable classes, not the untransferable one. You’re fine.

Okay, thank you very much!

It won’t affect you at all. I am an admitted History major to UCLA and I too had a non-transferable math course, but they don’t factor it in. If you will have all of your pre-reqs done, I’d say you’re in.

I’m just wondering, if you take a class that isn’t required for your major or the GE requirements and you have the minimum amount of units required without the class, can you have the option to count it as transferable or not?

The class would have to be a UC accepted course.

I’ve taken a couple of courses for elective credit. I already had the GE requirements filled, they just seemed interesting. They will count towards my unit count and GPA. Minimum amount of units or not.

My intermediate algebra class won’t transfer, but my college level, UC accepted History of Jazz class will. I already had that section of IGETC completed, I just took it for the units.

Every UC course will transfer. The first 70 semester units are counted towards your GPA. If you get an A in a class after 70 units and a C before the 70 cap, the C counts towards your GPA, the A does not.

Okay, I see what you’re saying. Thanks! :)
