Non US Citizen/Perm Res. + Affirmative Action

Hello. I'm a non US permanent resident but I live here in the US and I'm looking at applying to some Ivys and other schools here in the states. I heard somewhere that schools place non US citizens in the international students category for admissions instead of the usual race-based affirmative action thing. Is this true?

Additionally, many schools like Stanford and UChicago do not carry out a need-blind admissions policy towards non-citizens. This is quite unfortunate for me as I will be needing lots of aid but how much more selective is the process than regular domestic admissions? My stats are mediocre and I don't know whether or not these colleges would still be worth applying.

You will be considered an international student an will be evaluated with the international pool of candidates.

Yes it is true that most colleges are not need blind to students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents so your ability to pay will be a factor in the admissions process.

this could be tough because there will be many stellar applicants in the international pool
