"Non-US HS Language" WHAT?

Is this referring to having taken a foreign language in high school? If so, I'm really confused. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school and passed both years. On my application it says "None" in the box underneath. I have met the requirement, so I'm just concerned if this is:

A. What I think it is

and

B. If it's going to negatively effect my application

What are you majoring in? Some majors require college level foreign language classes.

@Happy2Help I am majoring in Psychology.

@kristyalene‌

Hello there. UC’s usually require having taken an AP foreign language and passing the test, or having taken 3 years of a foreign language in High School. At least, that’s my UC’s say-so (since they’re a sytem, I assume they share requisites).

^ Not sure where the 3 years is coming from, but for IGETC it is 2 years in HS of the same language

Actually, that was worded terribly. Excuse me, I’m sorry.

I mean 2yrs. in HS is the requirement (listed on the UC websites). That third year is meant for those who want to sail over the foreign language GE requirement (not sure if this applies to all UC’s, however).

Again, my apologies for the mistaken info.

@luckie1367 A friend of mine pointed out that the issue may be that I haven’t delivered my high school transcripts to my CCC. But I took 2 years of spanish consecutively my junior and senior year (levels 1 & 2) and passed both courses with a C. I’m just a little panic-ish since I want to submit my application tonight (and don’t really have an option not to since theres no one to call and ask over the weekend) It’s totally my fault for not noticing while I was at workshops on campus. I’m just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that I can figure it out Monday and it will all be okay.

@NotYetEngineer, no worries, I just wanted to try and avoid making anyone panic.

@kristyalene, I think your friend is right. If your are going to be IGETC certified, your CC will need HS transcripts. UCs will then accept IGETC, which means the language requirement has been fulfilled. Did you mark IGETC certified on your app?

@luckie1367 I did mark it. (Hope that’s right?) I am taking the last class in the Spring (an art class I have been avoiding for no valid reason) and the foreign language that I need my transcripts for. Then, I’ll be certified.

As long as you will be certified by the end of Spring 2015, you’re good! Just remember to get your HS transcripts over ASAP to avoid any more surprises.

@luckie1367 Ah, I know. I just keep putting it off since the school’s a little out of the way since I moved. But, I will definitely be there bright and early Monday morning!

I completely understand! Can you mail them a check? That’s how I sent my HS transcripts.

@kristyalene‌ What UC campuses are you applying to?

Non-US HS Language is if you attended a HS outside of the US that was in another language.
