I’m applying for CS, and I’m nonbinary. My mom thinks that this will hurt my chances, since lots of CS programs are trying to accept more female students to meet quotas. Is it actually a disadvantage? How do college admissions officers categorize nonbinary students?
The thing is, STEM programs are lacking in LGBTQ+ representation as well. To be blunt, as a nonbinary person who was born female (I’m assuming), you’re not lacking in any department in terms of representation.
As far as how admissions officers will see it, unless you’re applying to conservative or religious schools, you shouldn’t have a problem.
