I have searched the web/college websites/this forum and asked (my friends) for 2 and a half frustrating hours but haven’t really recieved solidified answers to why none of the colleges I’m applying don’t seem to require midyear reports, which I heard is a neccessity to many colleges. If you are reading this and know information about midyear reports on these colleges, please please PLEASE let me know if they are needed or not…

UVA does have a mid year--they call it First Semester/Trimester grade report. It is section 4 of the paper app and available online also. The student fills it out-not the guidance counselor and sends it in by Feb. 15.
I do not believe UNC has a requirement, though their app says they "ask" students to submit grades online. NOT thru guidance coun.
USC does not require them, though I recall many of the applicants for USC last year that frequent this board said that they were contacted by USC and asked to send them in anyway.
Don't have any idea about Notre Dame or IU. Good luck.

USC--doesn't require Mid-Year Reports, but may ask any applicant in a letter to send in his 7th semester grades. Some schools don't require mid-year reports because they figure that they can yank your acceptance if you slack off senior year. Here is the info from their website:

Generally, for the purposes of admission into USC, we review an applicant's coursework from grades 9 through 11 for admission into our fall freshman class. We may, however, request 7th semester grades (12th grade, fall semester) before making a final decision. Those students from whom we require 7th semester grades will receive letter requesting this information if we need it.

Once admitted, all students are required to submit an official copy of their high school transcripts in order to verify their graduation dates. Students’ transcripts will also be reviewed to ensure that they have maintained a continued level of academic achievement. A serious downturn in a student’s senior year could result in the rescinding of an admission offer.<<
