None PROPER USAGE

hey guys, so I am studying for the SAT and came upon an altercation.
So I know that the indefinite pronoun “none” is always plural. BUT, in the example below it is used singularly (correct answerr is C).

None of the presents I receivedA on my birthday this year wasB equallyC as memorable as the necklace you gaveD me last year. No errorE.

I read some where that SAT considers “none” as singular. What should I regard it as? singular or plural?

NONE is not tested for singularity or plurality on the SAT. Ever. The example you give is © because “equally” is redundant with the “as…as” formulation.
