Alright so i get a letter from the financial aid office today saying that they're giving me a 1000 dollar scholorship and then read on about how if they give you a scholorship that you automaticly apply for a nonresident tuition waver due to some texas law or something.

A few questions about this because I have never heard about this rule.
1. Does this apply for all scholorships because that would have been helpfull a month ago when I got a different scholorship and have been waiting ever since for more aid.
2. Why isnt this advertised anywhere, I mean this is a 13k difference and I had never seen it on their website or anything.
3. How hard is it at Texas to keep a 3.5 GPA that this scholorship requires because I think that if I loose the 1k than the rest of the nonresident tuition waver goes down with it.

Apparently, you can get a tuition waiver if you get a scholarship worth atleast $1000. And with the fin aid tht I have received I really need a scholarship.

You could have applied for the general scholarship that UT offers or you can apply for inter-departmental scholarships. You basically have to compete with other texans for the scholarship to be considered eligible for the waiver.

they just told me that it was a general scholorship i guess, I got a $1,500 scholorship from the engineering school about a month ago and it said nothing of this tuition waver. I havnt even gotten my finacial aid yet so I have no idea how this is all going to work out.

i'm pretty sure that they give the 1k scholarship (davidson?) and non resident oos waiver to natl merit finalists (in addition to those that get 1k in scholarships from any source).

i got a college of engineering $2,000 scholarship with a nonresident tuition waiver like in february. and just this week i got a $1,000 scholarship and that came with a nonresident tuition waiver too. i got something called the august kunz scholarship on my CA$H website too...i'm not sure if it's the same $1,000 one i got in the mail though, because the letter didn't say a specific name...hmmmm and i didn't get national merit at all
