Noob for Job Experienced Please Help

This is my 3rd year in Community College, but things will change this semester. And please grant me your kind advices that I deeply appreciate.

Last year, I worked in the Student Government, but this year, along with school and Student Government, as of now, I am studying to become a personal trainer for 24 Hours Fitness. Laugh at me if you will, and sure, I will agree, THIS IS my FIRST job. But I think I will enjoy it, since first I was once extremely fat, second I have been working-out for 3 years.

By any chance, of those you you friend who works and study in CC, which I know there are many, please give me some kind advice. For example, how do you manage your time and keep up the best grades, what do you do if you are exhusted from work and still got load of homework still unfinished. In addition, is it possible for a personal trainer to work only on weekends, for example, Friday and Saturday?

I thank you ahead.

Hmm, the best advice I can give you is just don’t screw around.

I managed school and an internship Monday through Friday from 7:30am-6:30pm, and a retail job on the weekends. I was always exhausted when I got home, but I did what I had to. I didn’t exactly pull the most stellar grades in the end (3.75 for the semester), but a 4.0 was definitely possible if I had worked just a little harder. If your work schedule keeps you really busy, you might have to sacrifice some sleep and a lot of fun/social time, but just make sure that you keep your priorities straight.

And if you aren’t working for strictly financial need (e.g. you need the money for bills), then I recommend you work only on the weekends. Your grades should always be first, and being free on the weekends will make things a lot less stressful. I think it’s also worth noting that a job unrelated to your major will not add anything significant to your application (or so I’ve heard).

And I know there are a lot of CC students out there who probably had a worse schedule than I had, along with tougher classes, but nothing stopped them from succeeding!

Good luck.
