PHYSICS 1A & Physics for Scientists (5) ------PHYSICS 37 Physics for (5)
and Engineers and
Engineers:Mechanics ------ Scientists I

thats is i need to complete physics 37 for uc transfer...
but the thing is that it requires maths 265(calculus) and
well for maths 265 i have to do maths 240 and maths 260

so the question is that am i thinking right ? that is will it take
me like 5 or 6 semesters to reach to physics 37?
i mean isnt there any other way coz i want to transfer in 2 years

Calculus based physics requires calculus, sadly. There's no way around it.

Depending on what level of math you're starting out in, it should only take you a couple semesters to have enough calculus needed for the first class in the physics series. Also, depending on the major, many students choose to take the physics series after they transfer.

okay well so i req like 4 or 3 physics courses for transfer so u guys mean to say that i can do 2 courses in my college and rest in univ... am i right?

you said you wanted to do UCLA engineering right? Well then the general pre-req's are REQUIRED!!!!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure I posted this same response before.

"The following courses are REQUIRED for admission to this major

CHEM 20A & Chemical Structure (4)|CHEM 1A & General Chemistry (5)

In fact, where it says "required" on the assist.org page it is both bold and underlined. That basically means your app goes in the trash if these pre-req's are not completed. As others have said, you will probably need three years to transfer. Or don't do engineering.

what math class are you in now? If you're not starting out in precalc then i'm guessing math isn't something that comes easily to you. The classes that you're going to take in engineering like E&M and multivariable calculus are going to be monsters and you better be damn sure you can handle it. I took 23 units this semester and my 4 unit multivariable calculus course took up more time than the other 19 units combined. I'm not saying this to discourage you because i too was quite bad at math when i first started. I never took precalculus in high school because i was placed in the "dumb" math track so i only went up to algebra 2/trig. It took alot of work to catch up but now i'm taking diff eq's and an independent study on differential forms next semester. Best of luck to you!

the thing is i came from india so well i did my calculus and stuff there ... and got like a B in them so now i have retake precalc and stuff here
