Nor Cal/So Cal split

san jose is not ghetto, i mean it's the safest city in the nation afterall

I've been in San Francisco most of my life and I go to USC for college. I really don't like SoCal at all to be honest. I much prefer the moderate temperatures in NorCal. The people also seem more down-to-earth in SF. I dunno, LA to me has been one big urban sprawl, and I don't like it.

Haha, I actually find it funny that ppl from the rest of the nation have no clue about the hyphy movement, especially somebody from California! but yea it is a rap movement that started in the bay area (mainly oakland), and how can you honestly think it's gay? but i do see where you're coming from. it's obviously not stupid either, and you would get jumped if you said that in Oakland. and btw "beastar" You call beautiful sunny days almost year-long boring? wow...i guess some ppl actually like the cold.

I don't like weather over 75 degrees, and prefer it around 65 and overcast. I was pretty much okay with CA weather before I got to OK, but now I love how the weather changes every 3 hours. It makes life more exciting. Plus we've had snow and ice-ish stuff! Our ice from last weekend's storm is finally starting to melt, just in time for it to supposedly snow all weekend. This should be interesting...

And it's not just people from around the country the don't know what "hyphy" is, as I've lived in the Bay Area all my life until August and don't know it either.

Don't call San Jose a ghetto.
It's the richest large city in the U.S. with average income over 70k.
San Francisco follows closely behind.
If you say NorCal is a ghetto, then you've obviously seen it superficially,
just because the land here is so much more expensive and it's more difficult to build larger houses.
Most of the Bay Area is richer than the most of SoCal.

As for the weather, I prefer it around the middle.
I think San Diego>San Francisco>Los Angeles.
I guess I'll have to go SoCal on that one.

Overall, I prefer NorCal.

Fine, san jose isn't ghetto, but come to my school and find out for yourself before you judge a city by rankings etc. Remember, it is a large city, sure, not as big as LA, or SF, but big, it's not all rich people and people who make over 70k, just like LA isn't.

San Jose is a bigger city than San Francisco, both by population and total area. Everyone seems to forget that.

how is the transition from norcal to socal? i lived in the bay area my whole life and socal seems like a whole new state lol.

san jose is not ghetto.

rolls eyes

Way to read my post

Are you kidding me? Wow askwise you need to check your facts before stating them. Do you seriously think San Jose is richer than San Francisco? You do realise. You do realise San Francisco is the 2nd most expensive city in the nation following New York City right?

San Francisco is more expensive than San Jose, but San Jose as a whole is richer per capita...well mainly because San Francisco has ghettos and poor immigrant neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Tenderloin, Western Addition, and of course Bayview-Hunter's Point. San Jose is more homogeneous as a city and its per capita income is not dragged down by large amounts of poor people like San Francisco.

they get hella hyphy at Northwestern

sfboy987, you are the one who needs to check the facts.
Go to Wikipedia and national census, etc.

I'd pick Norcal anyday.

I impression I've gotten from Socal is that people are very full of themselves. The majority of the population is fake, and people seem to think that the world revolves around daddy's wallet.
(NOTE: there are some exceptions, but that's the typical that I've seen.)

Norcal seems a lot more laidback and down-to-earth. People have money, but you're more likely to see activists and hippies than stuck up princesses. Plus, Norcal weather is a lot more moderate. There are beautiful forests, lots of places to go hiking, etc.

Both have good areas and bad areas. So the "ghetto" arguement isn't the most valid.

(PS: None of you have experienced hot until you've spent a summer in Vegas. The average temperature is over 110.).

I must admit, I probably am a little biased torwards Socal. Well, I used to live there, but the reason I am probably quick to put down NorCal is because I want to hurry up and get out of here. You can't blame a guy for wanting a change right? Again, I apologize for some of the things that might have offended (yes, some probably were) anyone.
