Who all is flying down for orientation? If you are, what was your rate for the flight? Know of any deals?

NorCal'er here, but i'm not flying down. i'm driving....let that VTEC do its thing. ;-)

I'm driving as well (8 hours:()

But check Southwest on Tuesdays, that's the day when they release new deals.

heh i think its only 6 hrs if u drive ~80-90 mph. but im pretty sure im flying ... Weeeeee

also about the ticket rate. its generally cheaper if u buy the ticket as early as possible.

i'm from norcal. i'm flying down. right now the rate for southwest for the dates july 10-13 are 67 for one way. so two way would be 134 plus tax.

thats pretty decent. where ya flying from?

San Jose International. Southwest Airlines.

I heard JetBlue has pretty good rates also.

It's the most boring drive in the world even though you're speeding the entire time.

hmm ic. u guys know how rates for SFO compare to San Jose? i would think that its more expensive? =

"most boring drive in the world"
yeah i agree. just bring along couple CDs and it might help...
watch out for those cutters while u are driving too. they always go to the right lane (slow one) and speed ahead and cut in. lol its so annoying. i try to prevent them from doing it.

I'll most likely be driving as well. I don't mind the drive down I-5 at all. Although I may take 101 next time I go down just to change it up a little (as long as I get my radar detector before then). You can get away with cruising down I-5 at 95 or so at least, so you can get there a lot faster doing that. And music helps make it less boring. Oh and once you get to the grapevine it gets more fun, especially if you try to leave your cruise control at the same speed you had it going straight for hundreds of miles. That's a fun game to play.

Yeah, I live an hour north of Sacramento, so it's longer than for the Bay Area people.

Sometimes they have $39 each way deals... I dunno if that's gonna happen for this time though

Driving over the grapevine can be pretty fun!:) Assuming you don't overheat...

ok, my family has driven to LA like every year.....and i dont know what the "grapevine" is.

lol....is it the mountainous portion as you near LA county?

that was fun last year in our Honda Pilot...kick down to 3rd and let that VTEC rip....wheee...(i dont call myself 'VTECaddict' for nothing)

it sucked in our Dodge Caravan though....LOL...i would floor it and it wont accelerate...just rev like mad...

Am I the only one that's heard of that expression, "grapevine"? I'm sure there's probably an official name for it too.

Yeah the grapevine is where you go through the mountains and the road gets twisty after hundreds of miles of straight roads. There are a bunch of stores right before it on the north side.

And either way, I thought vtec was about saving gas, not making power. Oh well, my car is fun on the grapevine, that's for sure.

^^ some cars its about saving gas (being more efficient), but other cars its about making power. =)

i'll see how my accord does in july. 4 people (family going down to visit relatives), but only 160 hp and "econo" VTEC....plus luggage...=

i signed up for 103 by the way...

ok i'll let this thread get back on topic now. =P

Ah, that's cool. I drive a Mustang GT (slightly modded) so I don't know much about hondas. It did just fine on the grapevine last time though. Alright we can stop talkin about cars now and get back on topic :) .

haha, what year?

2002, black, 5-speed...

i am driving... i'll get there in 5 hours :)
