I'm a freshman who's looking to live off campus next year. I know there are a load of threads about west campus, but I don't really know much about the housing in north campus. Can I get some insight into this area? Are they mostly houses or are there apartments?
Any tips would be great! Thanks

There’s a fair amount of apartment complexes in north campus, but it is dominated by houses. Many of the buildings are older and not as sleek looking as West Campus. However, it is also known for being the quieter side of town. (Unlike West Campus where you can find a party on every day of the weekend)

I’m not a big fan of North Campus, mainly because there is a distinct lack of streetlights. Since its an older development, all of the trees have really grown in and the result is dark streets and sidewalks. Since I’m a girl, this is a major negative. However, there is a lot more parking in North Campus than there is in West, and units tend to be a little cheaper. (However, not by much)

Also unlike West Campus, you are not really walking distance to anything except the University. (If you’re lucky enough to snag a unit South of 45th) It’s a pretty far walk to most restaurants, and frankly you’re better off driving. Also you will most likely have to rely on the UT shuttles to get back and forth to class. And if you want to attend parties in West Campus, hope you have a good pair of walking shoes, or a DD that can take you home.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know!

two of my friends live at north campus apartments.(speedway and 30th st.) it’s like around $600 for a 2-1 room. the area is good, quiet, and pretty close to campus.

Haha. I live on speedway and 30th too. I pay $700 a month for my 2Bed/2Bath. Which isnt too bad because it includes cable and the apartment was remodeled this summer.

I’d rather live in north campus than west campus. I guess the older I get the farther away from campus I want to be.

There are bazillion city buses and usually people who live in apartments buy food rather than eat out at restaurants all the time. Personally I don’t mind taking a bus to get places. I’ve walked around North Campus at night and West Campus at night and they are both equally creepy to me. xD
