North Carolina State University Decisions for Transfer Students (Fall 2017)

This is a thread for transfer students to post their decisions. I know there is already a decision thread for all students, but this is supposed to help future transfer students to get an idea of their chances.

Hey I’m also a transfer student. I applied for transfer last year with a 3.2 gpa from a community college and was deferred and then denied. This year I’m applying with a 3.4 gpa and 70 credits done that include calc(1,2,3,diifeq) and physics i and ii. I’m applying for electrical engineering. Hopefully we’ll know the result sooon. Good luck

Also I am instate.

I got in!!!

@undagada They said most would get theirs today, so you’ll probably get it Saturday evening.

Posting for my DH -

Decision: Accepted

Current Institutions: Wake Tech part time for many, many years LOL

Current Status: Enough hours for Junior depending on how everything tranfers

Major Applied For: History

GPA: 3.25 (around there)

Total credits transferred by Fall 2016: 70+

Classes: Everything for History major except 300 & 400 Level History courses, except for 1 math, 1 weird gen ed class I couldn’t get at Wake Tech and a set of history survey courses that weren’t available at Tech. So glad to finally be able to take upper level in my major.

Honestly, I’m really glad that I spent a ton less $ at Wake Tech and will still graduate with a NSCU degree and have my major specific courses there. If you don’t have a great financial aid package, I highly recommend this as an option.

Attending or not attending: Attending.

@KapFamily So did he complete an associates degree or just took as many courses as he could so that you guys could spend less money?

Hey! I just finished freshman year. I applied as a transfer student with 41 credits from the University of Alabama ( 12 are from high school). I applied late so I am being viewed with the group finding out June 15. I also would be an out of state student. This is the only school I applied to so hopefully I get in but if not I will be staying at Alabama and retry for spring. Do you guys think I have a good chance?
High school weighted GPA: 4.3
GPA college: 3.43
Major at Alabama: Biology
Major applying as: Animal Science

@acambria7

I think you have a pretty good chance. I had a friend who applied for animal science with fewer credits than you and had a GPA somewhere around 3.4 and got in. As long as you have English I & II, pre-calc, and either Bio or Chem, you should be fine.

According to the admission profile, the acceptance rate for NC residents for Agriculture and Life Science majors was 42% while those out of state (but not international) was 35%. That’s probably not reassuring, but I’m just giving you some statistics. It may be that more out-of-state students didn’t read the requirements.

If you want to know my friend’s exact statistics or have any other questions, just ask. Also let me know if you get in!

@gbrl10 Thank you so much for replying! I have all the classes completed that you listed. I have not taking chem but have two semesters of biology so hopefully that is okay! if you don’t mind I would love to know your friends exact statistics. Also when did they apply?

Alright! Here are the stats from my friend.

Decision: Accepted

Current Institution: Mars Hill (in-state)

I’m not sure when she applied, but I believe that it was sometime in January. I also don’t know the exact letter grades for each class, but she never got lower than a B.

If you don’t get in this time, I guess you should just take chemistry to increase your chances. Though, I think you’ll get in. Last year, the average GPA for accepted transfer students was 3.42, so you’re right in the average.

thank you!!

I just got in!!

@acambria7

Surprising. I thought decisions would be released later.
