Hi all,

My dd will be attending TPAP this summer at Wake Forest North Carolina. Aside from Elon, any other suggested schools to pop by and see on our way up to DC?

If you care to go through the Shenandoah valley instead of up I-95, you could visit James Madison University in Harrisonburg, and Shenandoah in Winchester.

I teach at James Madison… email me at arecchkm@jmu.edu and I can try to help set up a visit to the program over the summer… most of us are out of town working professionally, but I will do my best :).

In addition to Shenandoah, you may also want to look at Catholic University, American University, and Coastal Carolina.

Thank you KatMT – I will take you up on that!!

Smart to look at colleges while you are there, @lauramomatty . Wish we had time for that. We will be driving home on Sunday. Is your D getting excited! We still have two more days of school next week (finals), but I think my S is starting to feel it! He joined the FB page and has friended a few people. So exciting!

There won’t be a whole lot going on at Elon, although I know a couple of girls who are there this summer, taking regular classes. Most go off to pursue their own artistic endeavors. My son, a junior MT, is actually in Raleigh for the summer, doing an internship and also appearing in a production of “Parade” there starring Lauren Kennedy and Zachary Prince. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk to him or the girls.

@mtmom2015 I just saw your message! My dd is very excited! Nervous, trying to figure out what to pack but really looking forward to it. @georgia30720 – thank you and i will pm you.

@lauramomatty Our dining room table is full. The parlour is covered with sheet music. Thank goodness for Ziploc Space Bags! OMG, it is a lot to pack!

We are kind of frozen – not sure what to pack outside of dance clothes, music, dance shoes… what did you pack for the room? hangars, batteries, ipod dock, that’s about all I have so far. What are you doing for luggage? We have 1 suitcase and duffle…

TPAP prep has begun here as well… In between grad party planning. (Party is the day before we put her on a plane to go!). She’s getting excited!

Suitcase to check, rolling carry on, guitar, small bag (personal item). We are still trying to squeeze everything in. A couple of loads of laundry yet to do. He’s a guy, so the “room stuff” is minimal. Deck of cards,iPad, speaker, a pop up laundry hamper. We’re stuck on what is “performance attire” for a guy…? Girls are easy… pack a dress. For him, suit? polo? colored shirt/tie? Packing all and hoping for the best.

@kategrizz, you are crazy! I cannot believe your party is Saturday! Wow! Sending good vibes your way!

Are you both taking her to the airport, or just one of you? I think we are both going. C ‘friended’ A on FB, but hasn’t had time to chat with her yet. They have a few hours of fly time to figure it out! C left his FB open one day this week and I peeked at the TPAP FB group… looks like quite a few Michigan kids. I wonder if any more will be on their flight? Exciting times!

@MTmom2015 probably both of us. I know a couple of OU students are going. And, a friend of A from BTP will be there too… I don’t think A has packed item 1… Except in her mind! (Planning what to pack.). We did some shopping for toiletries and stuff yesterday in between grad party shopping.

Don’t want to sound like a nervous nellie but I had no idea there would be so many older college kids. I assume they will be held to different curfews, etc than our kids – hope ours are watched as if they are 16 not 21 :-). Then again, they are all drama kids and in my experience – that means late night sing alongs, not beer fests :-)

We know 1 other from California, who is a student at UCLA and a returning member – loved TPAP. My dd said someone is coming from New Zealand!

I believe the college age kids still have to follow the no alcohol, no tobacco, no hanky panky rules. I’m not worried. And they will be placed in groups by age/level as well. My friend just moved to NC and is a nurse at Wake Forest University hospital… so I have a local ‘person’ if the need arises. My nervousness is just getting him to FOCUS on packing. We have a full Saturday, so today/tomorrow is our window. Grrr… teenagers!
