North Korea missle test

If the victim has a big brother similar to the US/Israeli situation that NK has with China(do not read much into China's denounciation of the missile testing) it certainly could become an issue. Everyone knows the bear and the dragon would love to get their hands on the American snake and an American nuke would certainly allow for more room to do that.

China doesn't give a **** about NK. They are trying to block of refugees from NK in fact. Sure they are friends, but not like oh US-UK. Plus they have nothing to gain in fighting a nuclear war with the US in which the world is very likely to end over NK. Nothing I say.

Why are we arguing this? It's not like US is going to nuke them.

The U.S. would probably lose all its current allies by nuking NK. China would actually probably be happy since it would gain more international respect and be in a better position to affect U.S. diplomacy. China would always have a lever of pointing to NK as a reason to raise its military spending and be more aggressive towards other nations. Launching a nuke first would be political suicide for the U.S.

The United States has the ability to bomb NK back to the stone age.

WITHOUT a nuclear weapon. If NK launched a nuke at us, nobody in the US military would be idiotic enough to launch one back. Not even old Dubya's word would be enough in a case like that...just wouldn't happen.

Kim-Jong Il is just flexing his muscles and trying to get the world to notice him. He's been out of the news for awhile.

George W Bush is doing the exact same thing. I don't know how you people can justify the US bombing North Korea but think it's a serious problem just for North Korea to be testing

**** NK. If they do stupid *, China will be on them. Let them two * each other over. They cannot reach the US for a few years, so let them be. Encourage China to deal with the situation.

"No it won't. Who will retaliate? Russia? China? India? Pakistan? England? (I can go on but you understand). They all know what will happen if they launch a nuke."

China will be *ed off coz NK is so near them, and radiation will pollute China. So China might do something economically to * U.S. off.

Anyone who thinks NK leader is nuts should really rethink the notion. You think that way because you're lead to believe it by our government and media sources. Yet, he tends to get exactly what he wants from these situations. "We" avert the "threat" by some finanical offer of aid.
He is neither crazy or stupid. He is a leader of a third world country that can get the attiention he wants at any momment he wants.

Hey liberals, we should just sit back and relax, right? We should by no means take military action towards NK. Peace talks, discussions with the United Nations, but a pacifist approach, right y'all?

General Lee,

I guess I'd sign up right after you did. When do you enlist?

lawl most of you are such idiots

First of all I don't know how we got onto the argument about nukes. There's not a hell of a chance that we will nuke anyone. The only real possibility is if a terrorist got ahold of on.

UN is a bunch of . Peace talks? Sanctions? **. They do nothing uselful. Sanctions everywhere. And a bunch of angry letters proof-read by Kofi Annan. It does nothing useful. It also needs to grow some balls. Just recently the UN Human Rights Commission passed a resolution backed by the Islamic community to punish Israel for "grave human casualties". *? Punish Israel for wanting it's soilders back? Punish Isreal for attacking the kidnappers (NOT the civilians mind you)? What about punishing Hamas for all the rockets fired from Gaza and attacking Israeli citizens? Anti-semitism and anti-zionism is rampant there.

roy,

I concur. Liberals, contrary to popular belief, are not too swift, especially here on College Confidential. When it comes to politics, I try to shun the CC community. God help us if a CCer here one day will be elected as president. If this be the case, I will leave the country.

Funny enough, I am a liberal. Well actually more of a social liberal than anything. But I don't follow any strict doctrine. Usually it's more of a mix with a liberal leaning (socially), or a conserative one (financially).

to both lee and roy,

Someday when you're older and have spent some time elsewhere and had a few beers with someone from another culture your horizons will broaden a bit. It almost appears that you both gain your information from soundbites without looking a little deeper.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM??????? Interesting, Opie! Thanks!

Opie - Considering I'm Indian, have lived in India, have friends from Asia and Europe, and considering I live in US (CA to be exact), I think I have more exposure than a typical American.

Well general lee,

I'm glad you find it interesting. I can't say I can say the same with some of your posts. People that tend to want war so quickly tend not to have ever been in one.

"Hey liberals, we should just sit back and relax, right? We should by no means take military action towards NK. Peace talks, discussions with the United Nations, but a pacifist approach, right y'all?"

So it's either one or the other? C'mon no wonder you don't talk politics with the people here, you're at a disadvantage.

"I concur. Liberals, contrary to popular belief, are not too swift, especially here on College Confidential. When it comes to politics, I try to shun the CC community. God help us if a CCer here one day will be elected as president. If this be the case, I will leave the country."

Roy,

Is that what "you" really think about the UN? What could the US do to change that?

Yes that is what I think. The UN really does nothing but write a bunch of angry letters (I'm over-simplifying here, but you get the gist of it). The US cannot do anything, really. The UN is an international organization. Honestly I have solution, after all it's easier to identify the problem than solve. I guess it could get more stricter and actually carry out it's threats. It's devolving into the League of Nations day by day. We all know what LoN did when Hitler tested the waters..

And plus the anti-zionism and anti-semitism in the UN sickens me. I say if your country cannot pass a set of strict guidelines regarding human rights, than they should have no voice in a Human Rights commission (I'm looking at you, certain Middle Eastern countries).
