North Vs West Campus

I've only heard about North Campus and what is is like, however I've actually visited West Campus, so when apartment hunting for next year I was looking at West Campus. However, I found a potential roommate and she insists on living in North Campus.

Pros and Cons?

I'm pretty open to North Campus as long as I can still walk to campus.

What's the differences?

North campus is further away from most school buildings, so it can depend on what your majoris . For instance if your a psychology major than it is not too far. However, west campus apartments are two to five blocks away on average from the main parts of campus. In north campus, aka Hyde park, student housing is easily 8-10 blocks away from the main campus and usually students catch the bus. The reason why student housing is further away on the north side than from west campus is because there is a park between the school and more family housing in that area.

Do you happen to know how late the buses run on weekdays and weekends? I won’t be taking my car.

Red River and IF shuttle stops at about 11:00 pm weekdays and I think they run on Sundays. Both bus routes are completely different parts of north campus, Capitol metro, such as 7 Duval runs frequently and possible past 11:00.

@lovechickfila - You probably know this since you visited west campus, but that whole area is pretty much party central. There are many frat houses there and they frequently blast music so loud that it echoes throughout the entire neighborhood. That would be my only con as the location is great in respect to proximity to campus and businesses on the drag. North campus is a little farther but it is much more peaceful.

Does anybody know of any reasonably priced north campus apartments?

I would meet with a realtor and check some out. North campus is typically cheaper though so I’m sure you’ll find something.
