Some schools are TO for admissions but still require tests for merit scholarships. Make sure you check all the details for scholarships.
Northeast and midatlantic schools in or near a city where your daughter might get merit and perhaps reach a price of $X include:
-
Drexel (PA ): About 14k undergrads at this Philly school that places a really strong emphasis on co-ops, so your daughter could also be earning more money here than she might at other schools.
-
Emmanuel (MA): About 2k undergrads and a member of Colleges of the Fenway, an association of nearby colleges that allow cross-registration and joint extracurriculars.
-
Manhattan College (NY): About 3100 undergrads
-
Sacred Heart (CT): About 6800 undergrads
-
Saint Josephâs (PA ): About 5100 undergradsâŠalready mentioned multiple times
-
Seton Hall (NJ): About 6k undergrads
-
Siena (NY): About 3500 undergrads (just outside of Albany)
-
U. of Hartford (CT): About 4k undergrads
-
U. of Scranton (PA ): About 3600 undergrads
-
Widener (PA ): About 2600 undergrads
These names might not have the same cachet as BC, BU, and GW. But if you can only afford to pay for one year of private school, that sounds like a LOT of merit aid will be needed to meet your price point, and popular northeastern schools are not known for giving out much merit aid (as they donât need toâŠtheyâre sufficiently popular for people who can pay more). If you are willing to expand the geographic reach, let us know. Also, is Rutgers affordable for your family?
A lot of good feedback here - but the first question of what is your budget is the one that lets people here really give insight.
Your childâs profile was similar to my daughter this time last year business/marketing.
She got most merit from St josephs, auto admit to honors and an invitation to apply for a full ride, similar merit from Bentley and CWRU and she really did like her visit at all 3, less significant merit from Syracuse, Pitt and Kelley. Ultimately, admitted student day at CWRU sold her and it wasnât really based on merit - it just fit.
What can you afford per year?
Is âcity within easy access for the weekendâ ok?
In that case, look into Drew, Ursinus, Marist, SUNY New Paltz (Bing or Albany?), West Chester.
âIn a cityâ can mean very different things - cf. Pitt v. Temple. If she means âwalkable town with transportationâ add college towns.
Note that nowadays Marketing works best with a statistics or data science minor and graduating in 3 years may make post graduation job placement harder.
you have in state schools so why do you need in state costs ? Youâre looking for a near in state geography.
You can get Millersville )Pa) and Salisbury (MD) for under $30k. Not 100% sure but West Chester ¶ might get under $30k. URI could be worth a Hail Mary but more likely $40kish but has full rides.
