Northeast + OOS Merit Aid + Sports...?

Northeast meaning no farther west than Michigan, and no farther south than Virginia. Parents won't allow me to go farther.

OOS Merit, I'm AA with decent stats (92UW, 94-95W), and aiming for a 1450/2100 SAT. I need merit aid to cover a significant portion of the COA.

Sports...more like football, but not what you think. I want to be in the marching band, and as marching band prosperity correlates with football program success, I need to find schools that are somewhat successful in football and have school spirit.

And possibly, a strong Engineering program?

With such a hard combination of criteria, all I have is Pitt so far. I'm assuming FA won't be very good (if any), and majority of loans, so I can't rely on that.

Any suggestions?

Ohio U (Athens) (definite merit aid, good band) [Ohio University Marching Band - Home](http://marching110.squarespace.com/)

U Mich (merit aid tougher, good engineering, band)

Rutgers matches your preference:

 1. Probably get merit aid … (James Carr Scholarship, Engineering Dean’s scholarship etc). Apply as early as possible
 2. Engineering program is strong, especially Materials Engineering followed by Biomedical(pioneer in Stem cell) & Electrical and Mechanical
 3. Their sports are on a rise. They recently expanded the football stadium and also Rutgers Scarlet Knights are getting better each season. (Just an interesting fact: Rutgers and Princeton played first intercollegiate football in the country).

So, yeah…do some research and see if it fits what you are looking for.

Add Ohio State. Good band, good engineering, potential merit aid.

University Of Pittsburgh
University Of Virginia
Virginia Tech

Your stats are extremely strong for merit money at a school like Syracuse:

marching band for both football and basketball-check
engineering school-check
merit $$- check

Not sure how much merit $$ is awarded there, but your stats are actually good for their Coronat scholarship (full tuition)…
