NU is huge on grades and test scores. I would try and get the ACT up to at least 33, preferably 34, and your weighted GPA should be over 4.0. There are always people admitted without these grades/scores, but it seems to be the zone that really helps your chances. Good luck!

You responded to my chanceme so I am obligated to respond to yours haha. You are right, your EC’s are better than mine for sure so that’s a +! However, I feel as though your act is going to hurt you alot. I know NEU cares about stats alot and I don’t think you’re in the middle 50%. You’re gpa, like mine, is also on the lower side. I think with Rd your chances are eh, 10%? Maybe more, maybe less? But you never know, you may fill a niche that they want! Goodluck!

Thanks for the replies! My weighted GPA including college classes should be a lot higher, (4.1 ish) but unfortunately I can’t take the ACT again since there isn’t any time. Do you guys have any recommendations for what I should do to raise my chances?

The fact that you are taking college courses should help with your stats. Anyways, one thing a lot of people are overlooking, are how many students from their school/district are applying to NEU. How does your local competition look? If you were on the admissions team, and you saw half the grade from one school applying (which is my case sadly), you would then be able to compare apples to apples.

Regardless, I think and hope you get in

Thank you that was helpful! I go to a pretty competitive high school and honestly most people from my school (30-40 people I would guess) probably have better stats than me, but I do consider myself to have pretty good EC’s and projects! I wish you the best of luck as well

Is there anyone willing to chance me?
SAT: superscore 1330 (not a good test taker)
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, not sure weighted because everyone does it differently
AP Classes I took: AP bio, AP Lang, AP US History, AP Stats, AP Chem, AP Literature, didn’t end any with below a 90% unweighted
Intended major: pharmacy
Extracurriculars:
Two paid jobs, national honor society with lots of community service, more than 3 clubs one with a leadership position, played a travel sport for three years, leader of positivity project for the school

Let me know! I’m applying early action. I feel as if I’ll get deferred, but hoping for the best! Thanks again

oh and also, I took all honors and ap classes besides one English class my sophomore year, my dad also never graduated from college if that means anything and I’m from upstate New York, a public school with about 230 per grade, we don’t rank so I don’t know where I would fall.

just in case someone comes in here ill throw mine in as well

I am from central VA. I am applying for Cybersecurity, I applied EA. M, White, middle class.

GPA: 3.3, W: 3.8 (both approx, depends on this year) I know that is low, but I had a concussion junior year and missed a lot of school, which both my counselor and I explained in my app.

SAT: 1490 (M:730 E&W: 760) < that is superscored but my 1 sitting is 1480 so i don’t think it’ll matter that much

APs completed:
Compsci A,
Human Geo,
Calc AB,
Lang,
Physics I

AP’s this year:
Calc BC,
Chem,
Litcomp,
Gov’t

Extracurriculars:
In a touring alt rock band,
race mountain bikes at national level and sponsored for it by several companies (Gopro, 100%, OGIO, ODI and a few others)
build computers/ hacking competitions,
marching band,
varsity swimming,
volunteering.

Honors: NHS,
BETA? idk if that counts

Taken 2 languages (Mandarin and Spanish)

Took the compsci AP, got a 4

I would’ve applied ED but i’m afraid I won’t get the FA i need

Does anyone have any idea when decisions will be released?

@redwag An email was sent to applicants saying that decisions will be released this coming week.

Thanks. I just received the email. The email also includes the name and email of a NEU admission counselor to contact if I had any questions on the decision. That is the first time I have gotten an email with a contact person to call re decision. I have received contacts to call after getting acceptance. Anything to read into?

they gave me contact info so i think they just do that for everyone

dude i’m noticing our stats are so similar oh gosh plus i sent in a major request change from bio to pharm yikesssss
