<p>Ok, so I was just doing some college research and I happened to search Northeastern. While looking up the acceptance rate, if found it to be 5.6%. No, not 56%, 5.6%. I was wondering if anyone could elicit some information regarding this because I found myself a tad confused that this school, while excellent, had a lower acceptance rate than any of the Ivy Leagues and other high ranking schools. </p>
<p>Check your sources as this is clearly not the right number 32% is. However you can expect that to continue to change, esp in light of the more generous financial policy this year.</p>
<p>The 5.6% number comes from dividing the 2,800 students enrolled by the number of applications, which was approximately 49,800 last year. 2,800 / 49,800 = 5.6%. That is not the acceptance rate, because not every student that is accepted chooses to enroll. In Northeastern’s case, only around 18% of accepted students choose to attend (the “yield” rate).
