Northeastern acceptance rate

The acceptance rate was 18% this year.

Expecting yield to increase to 24% or more. If the goal is a class size of 2700 that is 24%. Goal of 2800 would be a yield of 25%. That is a big jump from the high teens a few years ago.

Class size is 2800, so looks like 25% yield expected.

@franklin124 For Fall 2018 the yield was 23%. The lower yields in the past were before ED was introduced.

Also NU may be taking a conservative approach to avoid another over enrolment. Better to go to the wait list than have to put students up in a hotel for a semester.

@TomSrOfBoston and @PengsPhils do you guys think the acceptance rate will continue to drop for the next couple of years?

Probably very slightly, no more than a few points or less. acceptance rate isn’t a good measuring bar generally anyways.

Other factors will come into play in the next few years. Will there be drop in the $$ amounts and number of merit scholarships as interest in the school increases and lessens the need for scholarships? Post 2017 and the 27% acceptance rate/over enrollment there has been a shift in the approach of admissions. Additionally, the admissions approach of the “elite” schools obviously has a direct impact on NU admissions. It will be interesting to see NU’s admissions path in the next few classes.
