Northeastern Applicants

Did you guys receive an email/account to check your application status when you applied? I turned in my app a couple of days ago (My supplement was submitted over a month ago though) and I still haven’t received anything.

i cant remember exactly how i was given the login info for my status check account, maybe someone else can help you with that, but i know it says that the supp is supposed to be submitted with the common app simultaneously - not sure how much that matters though.

i received the info for my application status check via email and through a letter sent to my house. they will send you a NU ID and you log in using that and your birthdate

when did you receive those?

the email within a couple of days, the letter within a week. you should call them if you have not received your info yet.

I recently got admitted to CBA with an intended degree of BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Admin). Does anybody know if i can change my degree to BSIB(Bachelor of Science in International Business)?

do you mind posting your stats?

if you want to switch school you should call them

Hi, I’m from Northeastern currently.

From what I’ve seen, all of you will breeze in with little difficulty. With the exception of the Business and Architecture schools, Undergraduate programs at NU really aren’t all that difficult to get into, especially for the standards of this board. However, getting transfer credits, especially for Science majors, is a notorious pain in the ass. NU is very stingy with giving you transfer credits right off the bat; if they don’t give you something, hound the registrar until they give it to you.

One exception, though, is Calculus for Biology. NU has a special Calc program for Bio majors and doesn’t accept Calculus transfer credits if your majors requires Calc for Bio, period.

(There might be others like this, but that’s the only one I am aware of)

Would you figure a GPA in the range of 3.75 (that’s what I have currently and will optimistically maintain it) means a likely acceptance as a transfer? I’ll have 60 credits. I want to double major in history and economics.

somedudehere: I got accepted as a biomedical physics major and my Chem I credit was accepted. My Bio I credit is still pending, do you think I will get it? Bio I is a course required towards my major while Chem I fulfilled an elective. I need to know because I have to register for summer courses now. Or do you think it’d be best to call and ask them?

Rippa: Probably. I don’t want to say absolutely, but I’d say you are going to get in.

mgm: Call and ask. A lot of people who transferred in this semester that I know didn’t get credits for their Bio class, so I’m not sure. It depends on how your current school teaches it.

P.S. I don’t know if she’s teaching it in the Fall, but if you get in and you have to retake intro to Bio, take it with Dr. Potts-Santone. I have her now for Invertebrate Zoology, and she’s a very good teacher.

Has anybody else heard yet? It says on the website we will definitely know by May 1st, these next few days should be interesting…

I don’t even have housing for next fall with the school I am currently at, I will have very few options if I don’t get in.

Could you post a link to where it says that? I can’t find it, only that the transfer app deadline is 5/1.

nvm, sorry i misread this: [Northeastern University Undergraduate Admissions > Apply > Admissions Deadlines](Deadlines & Decisions | Undergraduate Admissions)

The wait is killing me, my status is still “we are looking forward to reviewing your completed application.”

yup, i have that as well.

Just got accepted tonight. Seems that there’s some confusion about my financial aid, but I’ll call tomorrow and get it cleared up.

mind sharing your stats and what school you applied to?

also, did you find out online or by letter?

I found out online. Actually, earlier today I still had my Recommendation missing (my Professor was really late on submitting it, pretty sure he actually forgot, lol). But he faxed it this afternoon, and when I logged in to check that it was received, I was taken to my admission decision. :D

I applied to the College of Computer and Information Science as a Computer Science major.

Major: Computer Science
College GPA (current school): 3.83
Projected GPA (end of this semester) - 3.86
College ECs: Secretary of the Computer Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa (Honors Society), Alpha Beta Gamma (Business Honors Society), last year I was in an A Cappella group and Hillel
Work Experience: Yes - Vet Assistant at an Animal Hospital (15-40 hours per week, 2 years in high school and all of this past year)
HS GPA: 97.829/100
HS SAT scores: 1480/1600 or 2210/2400, CR-730, Math-750, Writing-730
In-Major GPA: 4.0

I had some difficulties with my GPA at the school I attended last year, but between college courses during high school and the courses I took last summer and this year, I’m able to graduate with my Associate’s in CS this spring without transferring in the poorer grades.

I’ve never done one of these stat things, but I hope that gives you a good idea. :)
