Applying for Music Industry, I got into NEU when I applied in High School with a 2.8 GPA and 1800 SAT.

My first semester GPA in my college (SUNY Oneonta) was 3.06, but i’m struggling with classes in the second semester. Does being accepted a year ago help with transferring? I get my decision on wednesday.

while i can’t give input on that i’m sure some people have been in a similar situation from here. how do you know you find out wednesday?

does anybody know if they keep your high school application for record? and will they go back to it if you apply to transfer without sending your high school transcript?

Because I sent all my documents in in the beginning of April, I needed a reply from the school in order to plan my summer and how to go about with transferring. The counselor of admissions called me and told me I will get a reply by Wednesday when I called. I did send in my high school transcript, and I used my high school teacher recommendation instead.

My professor reccomendation said it was missing forever too, and I know mine sent it in forever ago but I logged on last night and saw my acceptance letter.

If you’ve been accepted, the page totally changes. It becomes really colorful and a lot of information is posted. You can click on to see your letter.

Alright just making sure, cause that’s what I remember it was like last year when I applied. What if you’re rejected does it just stay the same?

jhuang91: congratulations! i believe they do not send out any package with enrollment details. all information will be available on your myNEU account (housing, deposit, transfer credit, etc.) they did not send me any package and I remember the admissions counselor told me that they would not send anything, it would all be done electronically.

erik: almost nobody actually stays in NU dorms past Sophomore year, though, because it’s much cheaper to just rent an apartment/house in the area or Roxbury than the dorms.

Housing for transfers is not guaranteed. From the NEU website:

“Northeastern housing for transfer students is on a space-available basis; more than 300 spaces are offered each year.”

The admissions person we spoke to said that if you get your deposit in on time, you’ll probably be ok. They said transfer students are notified by mid-July if they got housing.

yeah, that was what I was sort of worrying about. If they notify us late-ish that they’ve ran out of housing and that we have to look for a place on our own, I hope we’ll have enough time.

I spoke to a person from housing once and they said that in the past few years, they haven’t ran out of housing and have been able to accommodate all students that request housing, however once in the past, they did run out of housing which is why they don’t guarantee it for transfers now.
