<p>Starting a large NU chance thread. Ill start. Applying Early Action for Physics...

<p>I think that you have a pretty good chance!
Here’s mine:
Applying for Speech pathology

GPA : 3.91 Unweighted, 5.87 Weighted
Class rank: 10/405
AP Classes: Language and Comp, Biology, Psych, Latin, Literature, Calc
Activities: marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, Latin Club, Biology Club, Girl Scouts, NHS, library volunteer
Other: National Merit Commended student, attend Harvard Secondary School Program for a summer</p>
<p>You have a high as heck chance, OP. </p>
<p>My stats are sort of embarrassing but here goes nothing. </p>
<p>Female applying for physics.</p>
<p>GPA: 3.62 unweighted, approx 4.2 weighted</p>
<p>SAT: is so embarrassing 1770 in total oh my god I’m so bad at tests okay</p>
<p>Approx rank: my school technically doesn’t rank but I am 8th out of 83. </p>
<p>4/6 possible AP’s finished by graduation: English Lit, English Lang, Physics B, Statistics and will be taking Calculus exam though I’m in honors (because we do AP work anyway, we have AP books). The rest of all my classes ever have been honors. </p>
<p>I go to an arts school so they’ll either take that as “*** you’re insane” or “wow what a well rounded individual.”</p>
<p>EC’s/Activities/All that Crap: babysitting forever, National Honor Society, Theatre Program, 8 years of Polish Language outside of school, Piano, School Newspaper. Last year I started a self published zine. Paid work as a receptionist. Volunteer at local humane society. </p>
<p>Essay: fantastic, was read over by my creative writing teachers (that’s my department at school, so I lucked out there) and English teacher. Very little edits had to be made, pertains to career/long term goals. </p>
<p>Recs: Amazing. Shocking even as to how good they were. </p>
<p>Northeastern is a bit of a reach for me. I know this. It’s still my dream school so obviously I put my all into it. I’m hoping my high gpa and well written essay will compensate for my awful SAT score (super scored, btw. cries)…</p>
<p>I’m also hoping as a girl with permanent residency rather than citizenship going into science that will help me too.</p>
<p>@martynajl I still think you have a pretty good chance. You have a rigorous schedule and you are a girl going into physics which is mostly men. All of your other aspects: essay, recs, etc could pick up the slack for your sat scores.</p>
<p>Hey guys, I’m a female going for health science major.
2000 super scored sat (650 cr 620 math 740 writing) I know my math is low but I’m bad at math testing, I hoping my gpa counts for more than test scores.
4.513 W gpa
Extensive resume including selective internship at local animal hospital, volunteer work, clubs, play violin
Very solid essay
Showed lots of interest
Live in boston area
I’m worried about my math score, but other than that, I think I’m ok? I don’t know how selective the health science major is and I’m so worried. Help!</p>
<p>Chance me threads make me nervous but I’ll put myself out there blahh.</p>
<p>I’m applying EA to the college of social sciences and humanities to eventually be a social worker.
-SAT: 2160 (superscored two; individually 2020 and 2060)
-ACT: 30…sigh
-GPA: 3.5 UW, 4.1 W
-Class Rank: N/A
-AP Classes: AP World, AP US, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Stats, AP Macro, AP Gov, AP Psych in addition to two dual enrollment classes (Precalc/Trig and Astronomy)
All other classes are honors because that’s all my school offers. My school is nationally recognized and is #6 in da nation holllaaaahhh so hopefully NEU takes that into consideration when looking at my sad sad GPA.
-Activities: This is probably where I’m weakest. I don’t have many EC’s outside of volunteering at a local elementary school and food bank. I also work part time for a catering company but most of my time is spent at the elementary school. I’m hoping the fact that my volunteering ties into my intended major makes up for the underwhelming quantity of activities I’m involved in.
-Essay: Really rather good, I’d say. I was passionate about what I was discussing.
-Recs: My teacher rec might be kind of sub-par, my counselor rec is amazing and he specifically stated that NEU is my number one, and I have an additional rec from my employer which is pretty good.</p>
<p>I’m apply EA to the direct entry pharmacy program at NEU.
-SAT: 2240
-ACT: n/a
-GPA: 3.98 UW(1 B ever, school doesn’t weight)
-rank: n/a (school doesn’t rank)
-AP Classes: AP Human Geography, AP LANG, AP USH, AP CALC BC, AP BIO, AP CHEM.
-AP tests I took: all above except calc, bio, and chem which I’m currently taking. Self studied AP psych, chinese, environmental science, micro/macro economics. Got 5’s on everything except 4’s on psych and the two economics. National AP Scholar junior year.
-Activities: 6 months hospital internship(3 in medical/surgical unit and 3 in ICU). Summer internship at a social service. Mission trips to Mexico(3 years), San Francisco(1 year). Church related activities. National Honors Society. Japanese national honors society. Red Cross Club. 3 years MUN. Plays bass guitar. Leadership blah blah blah.
-recs: should be good. On great terms with chemistry teacher and counselor.
Hoping for good news soon. Already got accepted in Rutger’s Earnest Mario School of Pharmacy.</p>
<p>@Roastpiggys okay so you have a 2240, 1 B all of High School, 4 self studies and an internship. If NEU denies you you should probably look at ****ing ivy leagues. Jeez there is no way you are getting denied</p>
<p>Hey everybody I’m a high school senior and my dream school is Northeastern. Im currently in the final year of the IB program (generally considered more rigorous), and I was just wondering what my chances would probably be. </p>
<p>I don’t have the best grades and SAT but im hoping my strong essay and above average EC’s will make up for it. I live in Switzerland currently but have previously lived in New Jersey, Singapore, and Bangkok. I hope to major in International Relations/Affairs.</p>
<p>Extracurricular Activities & Achievements:
-Student League of Nations (held in official U.N hall)

Essay: Strongest part of my application; essentially about my experience speaking at the U.N Assembly Hall for Student League of Nations</p>
<p>The bottom link is basically a resource my school offers, which is a scattergram where you stand against previous applicants from the same school. For example, the image below shows applicants from my school who have also applied to Northeastern, and in this case there have no denials so far. The green square means accepted, the green square with the triangle means accepted through early action, and the empty red circle is me. Thank you guys so much!!!</p>
<p>SCATTERGRAM: [View</a> image: Naviance Northeastern edited](<a href=“http://postimg.org/image/hou1glr9l/]View”>http://postimg.org/image/hou1glr9l/)</p>
<p>Ok, here I go. EA to Engineering.</p>
<p>SAT: 2220
GPA: 3.9 W out of 5.3, a 5.3 being in a A+ in all AP’s which isn’t possible.
Rank: no school ranking.
Extracurriculars: Track all four years, varsity the last two, FBLA, Model UN, Robotics, Latin Club
Volunteering/Work: Research assistant my sophomore year at a large hospital, started working 25 hours a week my junior year.

<p>To that last two guys who posted, here’s my opinion of your chances.</p>
<p>@Roastpiggys You’re in. Probably honors.
@frogandtoad Iffy. Definitely possible on that IB program. SAT and GPA could’ve really been higher though. Northeastern gets the most applications of any private school in America and they cutoff based on scores and stuff. But definitely a low reach/high match.</p>
<p>@Roastpiggys You’re definitely going to get in, no sweat. You’re making me nervous because I’m applying for pharmacy also, except my stats are lower than yours! </p>
<p>SAT: 2060 (R: 650 M: 730 W: 680) I only took it once which I really regret now.</p>
<p>GPA: 4.48 weighted, school doesn’t do unweighted </p>
<p>Rank: 6/666 </p>
<p>APs: Calculus BC, Chemistry (5)Language & Composition (3) (I chose to take more dual-credit classes at the local community college)</p>
<p>College Credits: US History I & II, Government, Economics, English Composition 1 & 2 (all A’s)</p>
<p>Essay: average, I’ve never been strong at writing</p>
<p>Recommendations: I think they should be great!</p>
<p>State: Texas </p>
<p>Work Experience:
Paid summer internship at community healthcare clinic that serves low-income families; worked in their pharmacy program </p>
<p>Activities:
Pretty standard, nothing outstanding.
-Choir all 4 years (section leader): placed in district and regional competition, advanced to state at UIL solo & ensemble for solo
-Key Club 3 years (class officer) ~140 service hours
-Class of 2014 Officer
-NHS
-Volunteered at humane society one summer </p>
<p>I hope we all get in!</p>
<p>Hi, I’m applying early action to the accelerated physical therapy program in Bouve. </p>
<p>4.0 weighted GPA
2110 SATs (720 math, 720 writing, 670 reading)
Decent essay- nothing crazy but should show my passion for physical therapy.
Pretty solid ECs- no varsity sports or insane talents, but a good amount of volunteering and getting involved in different things.
My school doesn’t rank but I do know I’m in the top 25%.
APs: calc AB, physics, literature, composition, biology </p>
<p>The only thing that makes me nervous is that I’m applying to the accelerated program. I don’t know how that ups the stakes. Opinions?</p>
<p>Sent from my iPhone using [URL=<a href=“Tapatalk”>Tapatalk]Tapatalk[/URL</a>]</p>
<p>Hey! Is anyone else hoping to get into the University Scholars program? I’d love to go to Northeastern but I won’t be able to pay for it…and financial aid won’t cover enough.</p>
<p>I’m a female applying EA to the business school for marketing!</p>

Essay: Solid, everyone who read it said not to change a thing

<p>I usually hate posting on these “chance me” threads because, let’s be real, a bridge ■■■■■ with a 200 SAT could get in over an applicant with a 2400 SAT and 4.0 GPA. But here goes:</p>

<p>Counselor Rec: Probably generic, We talk a lot but I might have annoyed with too many questions? Not sure.</p>

<p>@SgtEllie your stats are just like mine and people have been telling me i have a pretty good chance! i had
a 2010 on the sats in one sitting.
top 10% of my class.
3.66 UW GPA
AP US History, AP Bio, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Chem, AP Stats, AP Calc AB
4 year varsity track and 2-3 years as Captain (i will be captain this year)
A bunch of academic oriented clubs and an ambassador program
I also had to do the CSS with the non custodial profile because of my father. There is a non custodial profile waiver offered that i filled out and if it is approved that parents income is not considered.</p>
<p>@donewithh at first glance your gpa seems low but they will definitely take into consideration the 11 AP classes which is ALOT and looks really good. plus they calculate there own gpa that is weighted so that will be really good for you. Your rank and SAT/ACT scores seem alittle on the low side but they view the competitiveness of your school for rank. Plus you have REALLY good extracurriculars and awards so that should make up for the SATs. I think you have a decent chance at getting in</p>
<p>Please help me, I’m very nervous for decisions to come out. I’m applying EA to the pharmacy program. Probably won’t get in but just interested in what others think.</p>
<ol>
<li>Asian Male</li>

<li>Recommendation from my Nobel Prize Winning Physics Teacher</li>
</ol>
<p>@ct5097 I’m applying early action to the accelerated physical therapy program in Bouve too, and I think we’re probably pretty similar Hoping that it applying PT doesn’t affect our chances too much?</p>
<p>4.1 WGPA
35 ACT/2220 SAT, National Merit Commendation
Rank - n/a, but probably top 10% of a class of 760
Essay - unique and PT related (a Pitt admissions counselor said it made her cry lol)
ECs- very involved; president of Students Helping Honduras, president/founder of ASL Club, secretary of NHS, secretary of class, 4 year varsity swimmer, and volunteer at pediatric PT office 6 hours a week; Science, Spanish, and Art Honor Societies
APs - literature, statistics, biology, psychology
Recs - hoping that they’re excellent??
Work experience - swim coach for 5 years, lifeguard, retail, babysitting</p>
<p>And @donewithh 11 APs is crazy… you should get an award or something. I would say that definitely evens out your GPA/test scores!</p>
