Hi, my name is Erik and I will be a junior this fall. Recently, I have been doing a lot of research on different majors in engineering, and have decided that mechanical would be right for me. The hardest part isn't picking a major, it's getting into a college you would study that major and secure a nice future for yourself. Here are some facts about me: Engineering has been a passion of mine since I was little, I am a member of the robotic combat team at my highschool (we design and model all of our parts, frames, etc. on solidworks.), I am a member of my high school's a capella group(I love singing), I will be playing varsity tennis this spring for my town, I tutor middle schoolers in various subjects every monday and wednesday.

The three colleges I am looking at are Northeastern University, Boston University and Wentworth Institute of Technology. What are my chances? Also, for junior year, I am taking AP Comp. Sci. and Honors competitive robotics, both are classes that use tools and concepts I will use in college. Should I focus more in classes for my major(like APCS and robotics)? Or in honors/AP core classes? What would the colleges appreciate more? I've heard that colleges want good engineers not good students. Thanks :)
