My daughter’s first choice is Northeastern so she is leaning towards applying ED. She has a 4.8 GPA and 1570 on the SATs. If she applies ED, does that preclude her from consideration for any merit money at all? I assume colleges are not motivated to offer any merit money to ED candidates since they are a sure thing? Appreciative of any insight!
Based on posts here on CC in past years accepted ED applicants have received merit.
Thank you!
Hi! I’m a current student at NU and am a tour guide as well as work for undergraduate admissions here. Students applying ED can still receive merit aid, although there is less incentive for the university to do so since you are committing to the school regardless of finances. But, Northeastern is looking to admit a large portion of the next freshman class through ED, so this is a great year to apply ED if you can!!
