Northeastern Fall 2013 Transfer Page

I found out today that GPAs dont transfer to the school you transfer to. Is that true?

Hey all,

So I already submitted my application and waiting for a decision. Would you mind chancing me? I attented a CC and my fall semester is a 3.8. For midyear report I will have a 3.4-3.6. I’m interested in transfering to the business program. I currently have a job at Starbucks. I recently had an internship at a fourtune 500 companies along with extra curricular work such as volunteer for hurricane sandy relief. What would you think my chances are for a sophmore standing?

^yes, only units transfer

Evry1lovej, I think you have some good work experiences. But it all depends on your overall application I guess… letter of rec, essays, and so on…

bostonbruins1, true, GPA doesn’t transfer

Hey guys,

I’ve been following this thread for a little bit now but haven’t decided to say anything until now. I’m a freshman economics major trying to transfer from a small liberal arts school in Massachusetts. The Northeastern application status check website did not receive my last piece of my application until 3/29, so based on everyone else’s comments I have a while to wait!

liebling–
i’m not entirely sure what direction i want to go with it yet. right now i’m thinking about going on to graduate school, probably for a PhD. after that it could take me to an academic position or maybe to something in industry . . . it’s all pretty up in the air at this point haha. but actually northeastern offers a physics/philosophy combined major that really, really interests me. sort of pitting two of my intellectual sides against one another haha. though each is still a very logic-based field so they do have that in common. and assuming that’s the path i take, i’m really not sure how i’ll apply that to my professional life yet. maybe i’ll go into metaphysics!

Hi–For those who have been admitted, does the letter specifically state that you are “transfer” and, if so, into what class year you have been admitted? Also, does anyone know how the transfer of freshman college courses and credits works?

What does anybody think of my application

Since Northeastern is a 5 year program, is it Class of 2017 instead of 2016 for people who will be sophmores next year?

@hopefullyfresh: you’ll definitely have your hands full if you’re goinf for a PhD in physics… good luck with that! I like the idea of combining philosophy and physics lol could be interesting!

@evry1lovej. Your stats look pretty good. I would try to maintain your 3.8 gpa for best odds… I think your extra curricular will definitely help and if you had a well written essay and recs. I’d say you have a good shot.

@bostonbruins1: yes you’re correct if you’re transferring in as a sophomore.

Coco7777777 welcome to the waiting game… :-)

@liebling so let say I do get accepted but my final grade turns out to be a 3.3 or something do I get denied or I’m still accepted?

i don’t think you’d have anything to worry about. different story if you end up failing things, but i imagine you’d be fine with a with a 3.3

I agree with hopefullyfresh . I think you’ll still be okay with a 3.3.

omg when will i recieve my decision? I submitted application 3/23 the recieve everything 3/30 and 4/2 is only my in progress erport which i really dont think is a big deal

the rest of us are anxious as well.

my safety school require me to submit the deposit before May 1st

I hope NEU will reply me soon before may

It says that my status check is currently unavailable. Is that the same for evryone?

If it’s unavailable for you, you’re getting a decision here shortly. That’s what happens.

Enjoy checking every 10 minutes for the next 6 hours! Decision Imminent! :D

“We are pleased to offer you admission”
