@dzarkhov by resident do you mean green card status type thing and came internationally a while ago?
Regardless, something that you put on your application indicated that English is not your first language and they need proof that you can speak/write it because obviously the whole university is mainly conducted in English. So I while I don’t know what your circumstance is specifically, if they are saying you need that, you can’t be admitted without it. If you take it this summer it will be past the time they send letters out, which would be too late for you.

@cctransfer212 Green card has nothing to do with english proficiency. You have to take toefl or ielts if english is not your first language. By summer i mean asap, because all of the spots are busy right now.

If you interested in business, Bentley doesn’t require TOEFL, deadline is 15th of april.

@go1girl You can negotiate your acceptance by describing any special circumstances. It’s most likely that they won’t allow you, but he should try if he really wants to get in. However, his other stats should be outstanding. There is an interview available by request. Since he didn’t know it, he will most likely get a rejection. Sorry(

By resident i mean green card holder. I’ve been living here for 3 years.

@dzhrakov do you know if US citizens need to take an english proficiency test? b/c on my application I put that my first language is something else b/c I was born elsewhere but recently earned my US citizenship. would I need to take the english proficiency test too?

@dzharkov, well, i grew up speaking more one language, but on the common app, i thought that i should select only one langauage as a first language. I have more than one. In fact, I have 3. i just found out that i can select multiple languages as first language. should i go to my common app and make the edit?

@sha242 If you graduated from high school here, in the US, then that will give you a permission of waiving Toefl. As well as 600+ on critical reading SAT. As it was said that Your passport has nothing to do with english proficiency. High school, SAT, or TOEFL -these are the things that proves that you are good in language

@cctransfer212 It’s too late if you had already submitted everything. You needed to select two. Did you go to high school here? did you take SAT?

@dzharkov thanks for the info!

@dzharkov, I emailed them, and I’m trying to find alternatives. I will def take the toefl this month, but I need to make sure that they help me. I went to hhigh school abroad, and I have taken the SAT. The SAT score is really sucks though, so i guess i need to negotiate. what school are you applying within NU?

What schools are people applying from to transfer? Any stats? I’m so anxious to hear back… next week… oh boy

^^im curious myself! I’m emailing admissions everyday and following up with them. dont wanna get too much up their ass :P.

@cctransfer212 I would recommend you to take IELTS if possible. It’s so much easier. Especially if you are in Boston. Yes, try to negotiate and find a reasonable explanation.
