Hi
I got into GSP program at Northeastern.
I originally applied for Media and Screen studies, but I was offered a place in GSP.
I know that my academic was not good enough? for them and I think it is good that I will be getting a supervisor who will look after for my grades and stuff.
I also know that I will be able to explore different classes and I can declare my major in my second year.
Also, I am an international applicant, I am doing IB and I did not send SAT or ACT. I have not taken my final exam yet.
Do you think NEU can turn around my admission offer if I get two 3 out of 7 at the end of my IB exam?(I am doing full IB diploma which means I am doing 7 subjects), I was predicted 33? 34/45 when I applied… 4 in economics and 4 in environmental science tho…
Do you guys think GSP of NEU is a good program?? or Is it a waste of time???
Thanks
I don’t know a lot about the general studies program (I’m guessing that you’ve checked out the website, etc.). However, I do not believe that Northeastern would reconsider admission into the non-GSP program based on your IB results. If you’re asking about whether they would rescind admission based on results, the general rule of thumb for US students is no Ds or Fs. If IB is your only marks from your high school, getting 2 threes might be an issue. (I’ve got to ask, though - why are you taking 7 IB courses? 6 are required for the diploma, and it looks like taking a 7th has been detrimental to the others.) From the bit of skimming I’ve done about GSP, it looks like they use it as a more structure first year program for students that they think have all the potential to succeed, but could benefit from more structure to help transition to college. If you want to go to Northeastern (and it’s affordable), I think the GSP is a perfectly fine way to go about that. After your first year, you’ll be just like every other student, and I doubt anyone would even know whether you were in the program unless you told them.
