Northeastern Interview

I received an email from Northeastern asking me to go in for an interview. I am an Early Action candidate and was under the impression that Northeastern didn't do interviews. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I know it will ultimately be for the better to meet in person, but does the fact that they initiated it mean they are on the fence in admitting me?? Anyone else have the same thing happen to them?

I have never heard of Northeastern doing that. Are you legacy? They offer legacy interviews, but I was under the impression that this was more for informational rather than admissions purposes.

Try asking in the Northeastern forum to see if anyone has any more experience.

No, it wasn’t a legacy interview which is why I was pretty confused! I actually recently had my interview and the admissions officer mentioned something about interviewing other people who had siblings that attended NEU. My sister goes there, so I’m wondering if they do some kind of interview process for siblings? Regardless, thank you for the advice nanotechnology!

I went in for an interview too! (My dad worked at NEU for two years; not sure if that had anything to do with it.) The interviewer told me it was to add an additional dimension to my application, but I don’t think they do interviews for everyone, so I’m not sure what their criteria are. Hoping it’s a positive thing!

I’m wondering if that’s what it is, that seems to be something most of the students who went in for the interview had in common. Hope yours went well! :)

I don’t know much about the interview process, but if a school that normally does not do interviews, interviews you, it’s a good sign. I don’t think that they would waste their time on someone they didn’t want.

Those are the legacy interviews. My daughter had one a couple of weeks ago (our son is at Northeastern). The interviewer was a current student.

My son was also invited for a legacy interview. My wife got her MBA at Northeastern. Interview was with a current student. From what we were told, being a legacy means that, at a minimum, your application is going to get an additional review.

My interview was with an admissions officer, but I’m guessing it was probably still a legacy interview from what you have all told me!

i am a legacy. My dad went to northeastern for graduate school. However, i did not get the chance to have a legacy interview. Is this bad or good? if i dont get an interview, does that mean they dont need to see anything else from me?

So, I am really confused now, because I am like a double legacy, my cousin goes there, and my uncle teaches there, and I have not been asked for an interview, even though I applied via EA. Could someone unmuddle this for me please?
Thanks

Congrats on scoring an interview at NU. This will be an opportunity for you to really shine and let them know that you are a proper candidate for them.

Good luck.

According to the Common Dada Set Northeastern does not consider legacy.
