Northeastern National Merit Question

I just got admitted to Northeastern w/ a National Hispanic Scholarship. I also just found out that I am a National Merit Finalist. I know that Northeastern has a scholarship for National Merit Finalists, but I am trying to choose between designating it or USC as my 1st choice (neither is actually my 1st choice, so this choice will be influenced mostly by money). What I’m trying to find out is, can you receive both a NEU scholarship for National Hispanic Scholar AND National Merit, or is it kind of one or the other? Or can you receive both but that reduces the amounts of each scholarship?

Congrats on your accomplishments but I doubt any school would double up their merit.

You will only receive one of the scholarships.

At Northeastern, I got in with a 22,000 Dean’s Scholarship. I emailed my financial advisor and he said that since I’m a National Merit finalist, my award would increase to 27,000 as long as I select Northeastern as my first choice. However, my award would have increased more if I got into the Honors program, which I did not. So you kind of get both awards

@Sionainn congrats on being NMF and getting the increase in merit aid. However, your aid would not have been increased just for being accepted into the Honors Program.

Is $27k the highest scholarship for NMF at NEU?

@alliblues I believe it’s 30K max but 27K seems to be pretty typical this year.
