northeastern or miami?

ive been torn between picking northeastern and the university of miami.
northeastern is about 5,000$ a year less overall. i plan on double majoring in music/ buisness or music and/ science (something for pre med). right now i am undecided at both schools. I want to learn but i also want to enjoy college. any ideas?

I would say Northeastern. It’s $5,000 cheaper, they have a top notch music, science, and business programs, and they have co-op. Plus, Northeastern is only 2 ranks lower than Miami, but they are soaring through the rankings and will pass them soon enough. Miami may seem like you’d enjoy yourself more, however being in Boston in always fun too. Hope this helps! :)

It’d be insanely hard to double major with pre-med, especially with music (assuming performance) as both require lengthy hours studying/practicing.

I’d still say Northeastern, it’s cheaper and I think they do a good job of helping you decide what you want to do before you graduate (and it seems like you need some steering).

Double majoring with pre-med is one of those ideas that seems really great when you’re a senior in high school and are trying to figure out how to do ALL of your interests. It seems like less of a good idea once you start and realize everything that you have to do. At some point, you have to figure out which of your interests are going to be your career, and which are going to be your hobbies. If you really want to be a doctor, music will probably have to take something of a back seat at some point; there just aren’t enough hours in the day. You can still be very involved in music through ensembles (which Northeastern has a wide variety of) and perhaps doing a minor. But if you try to double major in such different fields (music with business OR science), you will likely realize at some point that you have to choose which is going to be your priority and pick one. I’ve seen this first hand.
