Northeastern Pharmacy vs. Rutgers Pharmacy

Hello guys,

I was accepted to the 0-6 Doctor of Pharmacy Program at both Northeastern and Rutgers. The scholarship I received from Northeastern makes the cost of both schools the same, so money is no longer a factor to my choice. Given that both schools cost the same, which school would be better for me to attend? I know that Rutgers is better, but Northeastern is a private school with CO-OP? Other factors? Environment, student body?

Response from current students/parents of either schools would be greatly appreciated.

You should visit both and see which you like better.

Currently a first year student at Northeastern in the pharmacy program --

The biggest draw for me for the school was definitely the co-op program that’s integrated into the curriculum. Getting all that work experience is something not every college can give you. (That and the scholarship was a big plus)
The campus is right in the middle of Boston so if you like being in cities and where there’s always something going on, then it’s definitely a nice place. This is probably the aspect that would be best helped by visiting the campus itself and getting a tour from the university.
What I also like about the school is that there’s a lot of support networks especially academic wise in such a rigorous program as pharmacy so it’s not as if they are throwing you into the deep end.

Hope this kind of helps :)

If money isn’t a factor, go to Northeastern. It has the better program.
If Rutgers is going to be a lot cheaper, then go there.
