Hi CC! I was wondering if anyone could give me more information about the PharmD program at northeastern. What's it like overall? And how does it place in comparison to the other PharmD programs in the area (MCPHS, St. John's, Rutgers, USP, etc.)? Is it reputable?

I'm really surprised Northeastern has a PharmD program since I haven't heard anything about it at all. I would really appreciate if someone who goes to Northeastern would give me some specific info.

A relative told me that Northeastern has the best pharmacy program in New England. (hearsay)

The program itself is generally 6 years long, and incorporates co-op and internships with the general studies. I googled the course requirements for it, and so should you.

Otherwise I don’t know squat, because I don’t to NEU as of currently. (Soon… soon…)

The PharmD program has summer 4-month co-ops, so you don’t really have a lot of vacation time. It is an intense program. (My freshman roommate was in pharmacy.) The first 5 years are considered you undergrad time, after which you get your bachelor’s degree and walk at the undergrad commencement. The 6th year is rotations, where you are getting your clinical experience. It’s definitely a reputable program, though I can’t speak as to its “ranking” relative to others in the area. Because of Northeastern’s co-op approach, it will probably give you more hands-on experience than in a lot of other programs.

thanks so much!

Can anyone compare it to schools in the area? And what are your personal opinions on which experience is more fulfilling–a more classroom based program or a more co-op based school? And what about jobs after graduation? Are they mostly limited to the alumni network at the school and strongly centered in the boston area? Or would I be able to easily find a job back home–in New Jersey?

And can anyone give me the link to the generalized stats for the pharmacy program specifically from the 2013 academic year, please?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible for a student to still apply for the Pharmacy School after getting into the College of Engineering, or any other school within Northeastern for that matter? If you could help me, I would be much obliged.

Burlesque

if you or your family has the funds to go to nu for pharmacy I can tell you when you get out of the coop you will be ahead of your peers because of the coop. …but if funds are limited… mass college of pharmacy is great school.

my sister went there and she is doing great but did get her doctorate…

One thing you can try is to work summers at a pharmacy and try to mimic the coop…

Please help me, I’m very nervous for decisions to come out. I’m applying EA to the pharmacy program. Probably won’t get in but just interested in what others think.

Good luck. Pharmacy is a great career choice.

Schools look at more than just your stats. Unfortunately, CSS profile has a lot to do with it. That is why they want it with EA applicants.

Got deferred, do u think I shud just withdraw my app? Also could u tell me more about what the CSS has to do with us cuz didn’t hand that in on time.

I would not withdraw your application. NU accepts many students that are deferred, I would concentrate on finding another school and then hope around March 23 or so you are accepted and not wait listed or rejected. In my opinion, not having the CSS in on time is a red flag -means you and your family are not serious about NU.

Colleges look at the CSS profile information differently. One example if they are at the bottom of filling spots and they need more money they will pick students who will not qualify for any aid.

Also they have stats that show what students will succeed, not default on loans, and be good alumni…You cant change your CSS now so don’t worry about it.
