This is nerve wracking - didn’t see all these denials coming! Looks like my chances have become slim.
I emailed my SoCal rep twice to show interest and she never even replied, I’m sure it was the right email too. Do you think that even helped my case? I mentioned a campus visit.
Hey guys. I’m gonna say something most of you won’t believe but just trust me. I don’t want to expose my plug but if you come back to this message when all of the decisions are released you’ll see I am right. They will be sent out this evening, 3-14, in waves. They had 62000 applicants and the acceptance rate is lower, like 19%. If you guys haven’t heard your decision yet, you will, tonight. Idc if you believe me but I am telling the truth. Wish you guys the best.
@Anonymous1216 Let’s see if you’re right
They might come out at different times (batches) - this is what was on Instagram…
nuadmissionsRegular Decision applicants…your time has come! Decisions are available to our first batch of students—congratulations and welcome to our #NUHusky admits! Make sure to share your excitement using #NUHusky
@Anonymous1216 what is there not to believe about that besides maybe the acceptance rate? thats always how they are released with northeastern
Hey everyone!
First, congrats to those in! To anyone who gets a less than desirable decision, know that it’s one school and in the end any college is what you make of it, so don’t fret
I’ve seen about 5 years of admissions cycles now, so here’s some notes for everyone:
- Merit and honors are rare but not unheard of, and will be obviously listed on the portal
- Financial aid may not be complete depending on submission timelines, but it's still available
- MA/NJ/northeast states tend to be more competitive so those in other areas don't give up hope based on the first few waves yet
- NU.in is a final decision that can't be changed
- Always hourly waves, so no need to refresh constantly :)
- Email will delay by 30min or so often, portal will be updated on the hour
- Admissions packets come in the mail 1-2 weeks later
Estimated timeline (in EST) from memory/experience, don’t hold to these but hopefully the estimates help:
Northeast - 6PM and 7PM - don’t be surprised to see PA/MD at 7
Mid-Atlantic - 7-8PM
Mid-west - 7-9PM
FL - 7-8PM range usually
Rockies area - 8-10PM
CA - 10PM
All international applicants - usually around 7PM but can give or take a few hours, but usually all out together whether in Canada or South Africa
Hope that helps everyone!
Only 2800 out of 62000 applicants accepted. That’s craziness!
That’s for 2800 spots - the acceptances are usually around 14K given a 20% yield, but with overenrollment last year expect maybe as few as 12K. That’d drop the acceptance rate from 28% to 19%.
son admitted to Engineering
local to Northeastern
homeschooled Asian male
M 800 EBRW 690, one sitting no other standardized tests
good, diverse ECs but nothing amazing
good common app essay
wasn’t sure about the LOR, but since he has not been rejected anywhere, I think they were good
@thebean77 How do you know it was 2800? This can’t be right. Maybe they had 2800 spots, but that means they’d accept about 5 times as many applicants since their yield rate is about 20%.
@thebean77 No, 2800, or perhaps 2600, is the size of the entering class. not all accepted students attend. The yield rate was about 21% last year. So they will accept around 13,000 applicants to yield a class of 2600 or whatever.
@math4bap what was the message on your portal? Can you tell us what it starts with? We can wait a few hours but just curious…
