Hi, this is my first post here

I have been accepted into Northeastern University and a few other schools now that early action decisions are being released. I was wondering when I would hear about any money that the school would give me. Northeastern is my top school, but I'm afraid that if they dont offer me any financial aid, I wont be able to attend due to costs.

I have a 4.4 weighted GPA, 2010 SAT, 30 ACT

I am majoring in computer engineering

if anyone can give me some insight on this it'd be greatly appreciated.

Well, you haven’t filed your FA forms yet, have you? FAFSA can’t be filed until after Jan 1st.

EA schools usually give their aid pkgs the same time as RD…in the spring…after students have submitted FAFSA (and CSS if needed).

ah okay thanks a lot, and no i havent filled out FAFSA and im going to finish CSS some time next week

For Northeastern, if you would have filed a preliminary CSS by 12/1 they would have given financial aid award with decision. They sent a reminder e-mail in November. If you file your forms later you will still get aid, just hear about it later. Scholarship awards were given with the decision(that’s merit-based.) Except the NMF scholarship, which is awarded later after students advance to that status.

^Celeste - it was my understanding that if you applied by a certain date you would still be considered for merit scholarships. Is that true or do you find that only those who have applied by date XX/XX/XXXX qualify for consideration?

Oh sorry. I was just referring to the EA students since OP seems to be one. Northeastern doesn’t seem to be one of the schools that require EA to be merit-aid eligible, though I’m not very knowledgeable about that…

Actually it says right here that you just need to apply by by the RD deadline of 1/15 to be considered for scholarships.
