I live in the admissions office building. There was recently a rogue bat flying around the lobby. I don’t know where this fits in the puzzle but I thought all information could help. This was around April 7th and could be the cause of said delays.
Im becoming really impatient with Northeastern as far as this goes. I feel like we keep getting delayed over and over again, and it’s incredibly inconsiderate when we have deadlines for other schools.
Have most of you done two years of college? I have only done one year of community college (graduated high school in 2014), which I know lessens my chance of getting in…just thought I’d ask
I applied to Northeastern as a incoming sophomore, and them pushing back the release dates is just heightening my anxiety. @jkaemerle I’ve only done one year of community college too! I don’t think it will hurt our chances
@mislysBB@RZD5128 Okay!! I am glad to see I’m not the only one haha:) I’m so anxious too I feel like I’m constantly checking my application status… I’m sure we will all find out soon!! Good luck!
What do you guys think of asking Northeastern for an expedited decision? Would that severely weaken our applications? I am really in hot water here all the other colleges I have been accepted to are requesting I send in my enrollment deposits and accept offers by May 1 which is pretty close and in all honesty I don’t think I will receive my decision until like middle of may or something
@jonjacobjinkle I have been wondering the same thing. I just found out the school I got into doesn’t need a deposit until June 1, which is good. I really don’t know what expediting would do to our applications…but I think if I were you I would call the Northeastern Admissions Office and explain to them your situation. They probably deal with this situation all the time! Hope that helps!
@jonjacobjinkle , @jkaemerle I called admissions last week. I asked the same question and was given the response that they do not expedite decisions. The man on the phone was a little annoyed at me for even asking. He said I can try and call back towards the end of the month to see if a decision has been made.
I think this is the reason why one of the clubs in NEU is a transfer club. Apparently there isn’t a ton of help or assistance for transfer students. Its a little disappointing that NEU keep delaying us. We are all proven transfer students who have done well in a college environment.
@redsox617 Thank you! Too bad I emailed them already asking when I could expect a decision because all my schools require a deposit by may 1. Hopefully that is not taken the wrong way lol.
It does suck.
Anyways does anybody know of Northeastern’s policy on committing to another school then (if admitted to NEU) ending up accepting their decision (thereby revoking the previous commitment?)
@psk2017 since most schools take GPA out to the hundredths place, they’d probably look at you as a 3.38 instead of a 3.4, but it probably doesn’t matter since the two are so close anyway.
@FerrisBueller2 I think it probably carries a minimal amount of weight; if they see that you’ve done well at your mediocre school, they will understand that’s why you’re transferring to a more prestigious university like NU. It’s pretty much based on your achievements instead of your current predicament, from what I understand.
