Northeastern University 2020 RD

@thefemalecurry35 See my second post where I agreed with you.

You mean “if it meant anything” about your acceptance/rejection odds? I wouldn’t be concerned. That policy is standard and the same as for all other self-reporting OK schools.

@esdoc I just thought it was odd that they were later wanting my official test scores; when at first, they said that they only needed my self-reported ACT scores not test scores from the testing agency.

That admissions assistant telling you, in your post above, about “need to send it through the ACT anyway” is the first time I’ve heard of needing to send official scores at NEU before acceptance. So could it be that person was wrong or misleading in the “why not
just to be sure” way?

Anyone else here heard of that? I’m also curious what prompted you or your mom to call them about test scores at this juncture. Did you get anything from them that made you call?

@esdoc I had received an email from Northeastern in late January that they needed my official test scores, and that’s when my mom called admissions. The lady my mom talked to said self reporting is good; but the admissions assistant that emailed me said they needed my official test scores. Anyways, if it does or doesn’t mean anything, I’ll see sometime this week when they release decisions.

Hmm
Anyone else here had an email from NEU wanting an official test score before acceptance? If it wasn’t just a mistake by the admissions assistant, I would think that’s a good thing for you that they want to verify.

@esdoc Yes, I hope it’s a good sign as well!

It doesn’t mean anything. NU has a policy of randomly selecting a group of students to verify that their reported test scores are accurate. It’s their system to ensure students are honestly reporting scores.

@pcomhssafc ok, thank you for that information!

@thefemalecurry35:

Did you report a score of 16,000 on your SAT or 360 on your ACT?? I don’t doubt you’re that smart, but I wouldn’t blame them if they’re a little curious about you, aka “The Biggest Applicant Brain in Decades.”

@esdoc No, I did not submit a 33-36 ACT score, so I don’t see why they would need to verify if I was telling the truth or not. Lol

Is getting into BU a good indication that I have a chance at getting into Northeastern?

I’ve been talking to my friend who goes to NEU recently. Unfortunately I didn’t get in to BU, and initially I was thinking that meant I wouldn’t get in to NEU, however she adamantly told me that BU and NEU don’t correlate in anyway. She was rejected from BU but then admitted into NEU. It really just depends on who is reading your app and if you’re meant to be there.

@aprillang yeah, that’s true. It’s so hard to compare schools because as similar as they may seem, every school is different and every person reading applications is different. Guess we’ll know soon enough, haha

@KcParent my daughter was accepted to NUin. When we made her deposit, they asked for all other applications to other schools be withdrawn. Of course this was awhile ago. I have not reached out to the school since this mess has unfolded, but many accepted NUin students that my daughter has met through social media have. They have been told one way or another, they will be starting in the fall. Whether it’s another safe location, or Boston. Not sure what to expect at this point
taking it one step at a time. She is determined to be at NEU, so we are rolling with it.

Lol a lot of people here keep speculating and wondering about what emails mean and stuff and I really wouldn’t think too much into it. Colleges are not as manipulative as you may think. I was deferred EA and got the email, and I do not think “admitted huskies” gives anything away. It would still make sense to put that even if they were sending the email to everyone. I didn’t get anything asking about my test score and I submitted a 36 ACT. Let’s just wait until results are finalized. Also, there are many similar universities to NU so don’t be sad if you don’t get in! For example, I recently got into William and Mary, which is half the price for me since it is in-state, and is the same ranking as NU on US News. In the same league are CWRU, BU, BC, Tulane, and many others! There are plenty of schools out there, so no worries if this week doesn’t go as you planned. That being said, good luck to everyone and I hope all you wonderful people enjoy the next 4 years of your life!

@Tyga1234 did you self report your scores or have them sent from the testing agency?

@JLDmomof2 Your comment was comforting that NU.In kids will be admitted in the Fall. Since you accepted and made your deposit, have you received any other communications from the NU.In dept? I was in contact with the NU program office for awhile, but sent an email last week to NU.In admissions team and the NU program office and did not get a response. I assume that more info will come out this week as they notify RD kids. My guess is that the international locations will not be ready in time for July/August orientations. Look forward to getting this next step resolved.

Are we thinking this Wednesday for decisions or any day this week?
