That’s so weird. NUin is usually for lower stat students yet you have both basically perfect stats and a dean’s scholarship.
Yes, many NEU students do coops in CA and Bay Area in particular… spaceX, Google, tesla, intuit, Apple. They get paid high wages (up to $45k/6 months and often come with corporate housing to boot) a friend of my Ds got those wages, Corp housing and a company car to use for personal use (shared with his roommate intern/coop!)
When NU In started 11 years ago the average stats were lower than for regular admits. In the last few years that is no longer the case.
The campus has been open all year but with limited activity. They are giving in person tours again as I understand it. You won’t have access to every building can see the campus for sure.
On this map the Westin is labelled “S185”. It would be about a 15 minute walk. The Orange Line in case it is raining two stops from Back Bay to Ruggles or Green Line 3 stops from Copley to Krentzman Quad.
Thanks for the info. Very helpful.
Son was accepted EA to NUin and is interested in Boston. From what I can see on the website, there has not been any update on housing location for NUin Boston, right? I am asking because you asked about the Westin and I know the students were housed there last fall. Just checking to see if we missed something. We have a reservation to tour the campus a week from Tuesday and are staying at the Westin Monday night (coming from Philly) to check it out just in case.
I spoke to someone at NE yesterday. They said the housing for the Boston NUin program should be finalized shortly. She also said she was almost positive that it would be at the same Westin as last year, but not definite yet. Please keep in mind that I only spoke to one person, although she did seem confident.
wait so if I choose boston how will my experience be different then regular NU students?
I know you can’t live in the dorms and you have to take a certain amount of NUin program classes.
Thanks for the info. Hope they announce soon! We would also like to know how food, laundry, etc. will work this year.
Same here!
Accepted NU Bound, London.
I was surprised this was an option given COVID. Looks like full pay. Does anyone know if this means I’m a full pay student for all years at NU if I accept.
Any FA would be in your portal in a separate tab with your admissions. If you applied for and thought you’d be getting need based aid, you should call the FA office ASAP to be sure they have all of your forms in for them to calculate your FA.
@whippymop Yes, we were surprised that he was admitted to the NUin program because he indicated that he wasn’t interested in that program when he applied. We are certainly grateful that he was offered admission at all… as well as such a generous scholarship package. NU is a fantastic school and competitive for admissions, and hopefully by withdrawing his application quickly, it will open up a spot for a waitlisted student that would love to study abroad next fall. The timing just wasn’t right for my son, but it may be perfect for someone else! Good luck with the rest of your decisions! It appears you have applied to many of the same schools as my son.
I was also accepted into the NU Bound program. I called the admissions office and asked about a financial aid package and they said it is full pay for your year in England since you are studying outside of the U.S. After you transfer back into Boston, then they will offer you a financial aid package since you are back in the U.S. You can contact the financial aid office about this problem if you need clarification.
I was accepted to NUin with 3.9 UW 4.52 W 1580 SAT 35 ACT and I am planning to attend. I am from decently high-income background and that is the most important contribution.
Based on my stats, I personally do think I place top in Northeastern Applicants. I don’t think NUin is based on lower stats people, rather income level because NEU does not offer any financial aid for NUin students.
ohh I see. I’m honestly kinda confused bc I’m full pay and I indicated interest in NUin but I didn’t get it…
Thank you. I’m not sure I want to take the risk. I’ve been offered no merit on my portal so I’m assuming I’m full pay going forward. Wish they provided more information on what to expect financially. Too bad, I might have taken the offer.
