Northeastern University Chances!

Hello,

I’m a rising senior who greatly admired Northeastern University. The city, the campus, etc. Here are my stats from Junior Year:

Ethnicity: Black/ African American
Gender: Male
GPA: 3.7 (unweighted) 3.8 (weighted)
SAT: 1200
Classes: ASL 3 Honors, AP U.S. History, English, Chemistry Honors, Trig/PreCal Honors, Track

Here are my expected stats for senior year (let’s assume they happen):

GPA: 4.3 (weighted)
SAT: 1450
Classes: ASL 4 Honors, AP U.S. Gov, English, Anatomy Honors, AP Calculus AB, Economics.

EC: 3 years of varsity track, ASL Club Officer and Member, was involved with and coordinated our school’s ASL Show for 2 years, Christian Club Member, Musician (Drums), Track & Field Coaches’ Award 2 years in a row. I also plan to volunteer.

Intended Major: Deaf Studies/Sign Language Interpreting

So how good would my chances be? I understand I don’t gave the most rigorous schedule out there, but if I do really well my senior year and NEU sees that do you think it’ll help? Does my ethnicity and intended major play a role as well?

How do you go from a 3.8 weighted GPA to a 4.3 weighted GPA in one semester? Because, assuming that you send in your application in by January 1 as a RD applicant, you will have only your Fall Semester grades for the Admissions Office to consider to add to the 3.8 weighted GPA from the end of your junior year, before an admissions decision is made. (If you apply EA or ED, you won’t even have the Fall Semester grades for the Admissions Office to consider in making an admissions decision.)

If you are interested in Deaf Studies, have you considered RIT?

I figured they would see my first semester senior year grades in which I could boost my GPA from the end of junior year. And yes I have considered RIT but doesn’t it get really cold, and isn’t there not much to do in the area?
