Thank you. Ours portal only shows decision letter on the right hand side. No Financial Aid and Merit Scholarship. But I do see the portal still shows they are awaiting for our 2021 tax return though IDOC shows processed on 2/9. will send question to the school.
got in for the exact same majors, wondering the same, and no not mandatory if youāre not applying for it!
Iāve honestly never looked at my sonās portal. I am pretty sure he didnāt get merit, but it would not have been more than the financial aid anyway. Perhaps they do it all at once so you can see the final picture. The financial aid letter broke down the complete COA by semester.
Thank you!!
Hi guys, I just got into Northeastern ED2 and Iām very excited but there are some caveats that I am curious about. First of all, I got into Northeastern London for 4 years, which is good because it is non-binding, but on the other hand thereās alot I donāt know about the program. First of all, is there any way I can transfer to the other campuses? I specifically want to attend the main Boston one. Additionally, how prestigious and comparable is Northeastern London to the main school? Finally, I am considering transferring into Tufts my second year. Is it harder to transfer from their London campus and how would that work?
Northeastern University London is a part of Northeastern University but it is at the same time a British university operating in the English system. The biggest difference is that you receive a UK bachelorās degree after 3 years and guaranteed transfer for a fourth year to Boston to receive a US bachelorās if you so choose.
It is a new institution building on the New College of the Humanities which was founded about 12 years ago. The intention is to offer a US style education but in the British system.
You can apply to transfer to Boston after two years according to their website. As for transferring to Tufts that would be competitive from any school.
If you are seriously considering transferring to Tufts, or any other US university, you should definitely contact them about whether attending a school outside of the US will impact your chances.
My daughter is a freshman at NU Bound in London, but was given a transfer option to her first choice college last spring. That school clearly states that candidates should attend their first year at a US college/uni. Her particular school was fine with it being NU London, but others may not.
I would like to thank @TomSrOfBoston for his helpfulness during this process, I donāt think I could have remained calm if he hadnāt provided useful information
Thanks for clarifying! The thing is I am a child of faculty at Tufts, which means it would be free for me to attend, which seems even more important now because Northeastern London would cost alot of money. I will ask my parent to ask around at the admissions office. The ideal would be for me to attend a year in London and then transferring to Tuftsā¦
If you are applying for financial, aid, then yes, fafsa and css are mandatory and should be completed ASAP. if you do not need financial aid, they are not required.
I didnāt want to apply for financial aid because I was afraid I wasnāt gonna get accepted if I put them in. Can I still apply for financial aid after I was accepted?
You can ask Northeastern but they are aware of this trick and not receptive to it.
Yeah it probably will be better for me to not askā¦ Its alot of money though haha
Hi Delaney: Are you familiar with the NU London program - what can you tell us about it? Pros and cons? Is there coop?
Exactly. My take is ED really is for full pay and the wealthy.
I can run the NPC all day long but I own a business and so have heard the numbers wonāt be accurate. What if I donāt own a business yet make a mistake? Then, my finances are at the whim of random admissions staff who can decide if I have to pay full pay even if their calculator said otherwise. Then, they can contact other schools to reject my kid!? No.
How could they contact your studentās other schools? Other than ivies, is there a list that is shared?
Well, Iād disagree respectfully. It is not only for rich kids. I am the single-earner in my family. Iāve got another kid going to a very expensive private school in South. For us, we got a decent package ( scholarship & aid) from NEU through ED. NEU offers pre-read for ED kids, which is a great tool to learn what kind of package you might get beforehand. I think NEU is doing a great job to make ED more accessible to low-income families.
And if the actual award is less than the pre-read award estimate that would be a legitimate reason to be released from the ED agreement.
Yes, that was our strategy too at the time.
