Northeastern University NU Bound London

My D chose this program! She will see you in London!

Did your daughter end up doing the NU bound London program? If so, how does she like it?

Yes, and loving it! New school building on the Thames steps from the Tower Bridge in the heart of London living in a huge flat (luck of the draw) with 400 or so nu bound and nu in kids. Amazing first year college experience. Social and emotional development off the charts. academically, the experience has been mixed but similar to most first yr classes…she went to a strong prep school, so this would probably be the case at most schools as it was for her older brother at USC. Net net, northeastern has figured out how to nail these alternate pathway programs (albeit w some normal growing pains that they have/are ironing out). She would highly recommend it! caveat…she is pretty worldly so we didn’t have any reservations about taking this step. drinking age is 18, London is a mega city…may not be best fit for every 18 year old ;

OMG thats so nice to hear…I just got accepted into this program…do you recall if another in US option was offered? Also, did you take the offer up right away or wait for more information? Thanks! Im so happy your daughter is doing well!

I would not expect a Boston location as the main campus is so overenrolled this year by 800 or so students from a high yield. Perhaps they might consider the new a mills college location in Oakland, ca, or otherwise overseas…

That is great to hear. My daughter just got in as well and is excited about the program.

mills college was the us nubound option, a summer addition due to the acquisition and covid worries. guessing Mills will be the us option again but who knows for sure. my daughter waited to get more information…but it came slowly. it is clear this program is constantly evolving …for the better.

My daughter got in and she is super excited as well. I wish the site was updated with info rather than “we are working hard to update” - so I guess we just patiently wait to hear more. Is anyone accepting right away or waiting a bit?

I will be waiting but will most likely enroll! Hopefully I will see your daughter soon!!

Thank you!

I am a student accepted into NUBound seriously considering that option. If you could answer any of these questions I would seriously appreciate it as Northeastern has given me very little information. Could you elaborate more on the academics/anything of note? What are the biggest pro’s/con’s of taking part in this program? What is the biggest reason your daughter would recommend it? Do you think it is likely London will be an option for the next cycle?

I believe there is a lack of information as there was last year because the program is evolving yet again for the upcoming year. so I recommend patience… wait and see the specifics but I’d bet it will be even better than this year. but some of my answers may not be relevant next year.

Could you elaborate more on the academics/anything of note?
as I said, academics mixed…some better than others, much like any freshman experience.

What are the biggest pro’s/con’s of taking part in this program?
cons

  • not part of neu Boston as a freshman

pros

  • being in London …enough said
  • making a connection w a few hundred kids that will make the Boston campus seem a little friendlier next year

net net…if studying abroad is appealing, the pros far outweigh the cons

What is the biggest reason your daughter would recommend it?
meeting like minded people who relish the idea of studying, exploring and living in the heart of London for a year… a unique experience that is hard to replicate.

Do you think it is likely London will be an option for the next cycle? I’m just a parent but if the UK is open to the USA , London will be an option. my guess

Thank you for sm the information! I just also wanted to ask, since NU Bound is a conditional acceptance, is your daughter finding it difficult to maintain the requirements to matriculate the second year?
