As an international student (India) I can say that my high school rigor played a big part in my admission to D’amore Mckim Business School - BSIB. we don’t gave a GPA system here but the whole high school education is intensely competitive and seeing students achieve 97% is common. Even though I fall way down that bracket it’s important to note that my high school subjects consisted of : Economics(both micro and macro) , Accoutancy(Partnership and company), Business studies ( organisational and financial) and Mathematics. My SAT score was 1890 , good essay and ECs. But I believe the subjects I took in high school were the sole reason for getting accepted.

Admitted to the D’amore Mckim Business School! My major will be International Business with Concentration in Chinese (I was born in China and have had a bi-cultural experience). Planning on Enrolling since I am 4/11 so far in terms of admission. NEU is a great school, the best one I got right now.
SAT I: 2110 (770M, 670CR, 670W)
SATII: Math II 800, Chemistry 670, Biology E 660
Rank: 30%… ok, my high school is ranked in the top 300 in the nation, and it has a bunch of extremely rich and frankly very talented kids with 4.95/5 GPAs, that made me not really stand out)
GPA: 4.41w for my school
AP: Chinese Language and Culture: 5; taking BC Calc, Psychology and Physics this year
Extracurriculars: Engineering club (president), drummer for many many years, movie making and script writing, football (my team won a division title, I was a WR on JV, didn’t really play much), YMCA basketball, and other stuff
Community Service: TA at Sunday Chinese School, worked in the library, summer TA at Asian School
Essay: wasn’t really strong, but I got the point across that I am aware of my bi-lingual and bi-cultural experience and I am proud of my Chinese heritage
Other schools:
I was accepted by UMass Amherst Honors College (on free tuition cus I’m from in-state), U Washington, and Purdue
I got rejected by Wash U, U Illinois (how?), BU (again… how?) and unfortunately, UCLA (my top choice)
and I got wait listed at Georgia Tech, Case Western and UCSD.
still waiting on NYU, when does that come out anyways?

Congratulations to all who were admitted, hope to see you on campus next year. And for those who hadn’t been admitted, good luck to you with your other applications.

I got into the NU In program, anyone know if it’s possible to get more FA than just a crappy 2.5k loan?

You are guaranteed a 2.5k unsubsidized loan from the federal government no matter what your financial need. (I believe this is also not granted for the NUin semester.) Beyond that, if you were not offered scholarship money, it’s all based on need, so I am afraid there is not much of a chance of further financial aid.

Has anyone received acceptance packages yet??

Do you mean the physical packet in the mail?

@nanotechnology yep

Yeah I got mine yesterday.

it is my understanding that NU offers this ‘in’ program because they have such a lack of housing in Boston. There is literally no where else to put people to they send them off abroad. i don’t know many kids that want to spend their first year of school abroad…

Just got my admit packet today…and realized that the NU in Program is $32,000 without including regular tuition.
Now I’m seriously considering whether to go or not because my first year will be approximately $60-70,000 and the money is no joke.

Or am I misunderstanding the fees?

And does anyone know whether I should request to change my major from international business to business administration if I already got accepted to the NU in program?

Or whether the partner schools are any good?

Accepted into the Honors College! Didn’t even apply, so I’m guessing it was based on merit?

GPA (UW) 3.98. (W) 4.2
ACT: 34

Will probably go to BU instead

@RyanRim - Honors students at Northeastern aren’t required to pay tuition. I’d highly recommend Northeastern.

On a separate note - I got into their accelerated master’s degree program; does anyone know how selective it is?

@RyanRim - Honors students at Northeastern aren’t required to pay tuition. I’d highly recommend Northeastern.

Only University Scholars are free tuition - don’t know what this was supposed to mean!

All applicants are automatically considered for honors and merit scholarships as part of the application process.
