Northeastern University Transfer Thread Fall 2017

Hi everyone, since I couldn’t find any Thread for fall 2017, here it is.

I am going to apply as a sophomore in the Northeastern D’amore-McKim school of business.
My high-school GPA back in France was very low (2.7)
My 1st semester college GPA at SU in Boston: 3.733
It should be higher this semester
I’m part of the MUN club, just join the tennis team who’s in division three.

Do anyone knows if I have chances to get in?

I am going to apply as a junior to the Northeastern D’amore-McKim school of business as well.
My high school GPA in the US was very very very low, (2.4 out of 4.0)
Im currently at Salem State University with a GPA of 3.92 (60 credits)
Looking to a 3.8+ this semester.

What are my chances, and do you guys know if Northeastern still requires HS report after a certain amount of credit. ( I remember they used to not require it after a certain amount of credit)

Hi! I am applying as an incoming junior to the College of Arts, Media, and Design! I am super excited!

Current College: Fitchburg State University
College GPA: 3.87
High School GPA: 3.9
College ECs: Honors Program, Phi Sigma Sigma Vice President, design internship with nonprofit local organization.
Highschool ECs: various clubs but only mentioning Junior Volunteer job at Maine Medical Center.

Let me know what you think!

@milklore You have an awesome chance of getting in. If you don’t get in then i don’t know who will. College GPA good, High School GPA awesome, great list of EC. Yeah, my money is on you getting in.

Hey, I just sent in my application today! I’ll post my stats below, please feel free to share your opinions on my chances of getting in (no matter how negative).

College Stats…
Status: Second Semester Freshman
Credits: 30 completed by end of this semester
GPA: 3.4
ACT: 25
Major: Economics and International Relations
Extra Curriculars:
-Member of economics club
-Member of social change club
-Member of Student Government

  • Interned for a Presedential campaign (during Fall Semester)
  • Currently an intern for a congresswoman
  • I also work two jobs on top of all of this lol

High School Stats…
GPA: I think like a 2.7 (?)
I spent a large portion of my hs career in and out of the hospital due to an illness I had. I wrote all about this on the Common App.
Courses: I had 8 AP courses, 1 AC course, and 1 intensive course
Extra Curriculars:
I had a ton of ec in hs but I did not discuss them in my app. I’m trying to highlight my work during my collegiate career, NOT high school…

Essays: I feel they are very strong!
Recommendation Letters: I had a teacher from high school that I was very close with send in a letter of rec on my behalf.

Extra Stuff…

  • I speak three languages

Hey guys, I’m applying to Northeastern for transfer. Is there a required essay? Because there isn’t one on the Common App…

Also, the school’s website doesn’t seem to work on my laptop. It just always says, “www.northeastern.edu page isn’t working…is currently unable to handle this request”. Does anyone know why this might be?

@bettycrocker03 Nope! Just the mandatory common app essay. There are no extra writing requirements. Also, that’s weird that the website isn’t working for you. I just tried it and it worked

@Calliefornia20 Okay, awesome! Yeah I don’t know what’s up haha. Thanks for your help

I’m applying as a transfer as well.

I applied to the college of science.

College Stats:
GPA: 3.917
32 credits at the the end of this semester

High School:
GPA: 95%
Top 15% (I think or close to it)
I took practically all honors classes throughout high school.
AP Bio: 4
AP Spanish:4

Applied for Fall 2017 transfer in late January.
Hopefully joining the music industry program!

College Stats: (Loyola Marymount University)
GPA: 4.0
28 credits at the end of this semester

High School: (competitive public school in CT)
GPA: 3.5
Old SAT: 1920
AP Gov, APES, AP Lang

Dying to hear back.

I applied as a transfer in February for Psychology!

College GPA: 3.9
High school GPA: 3.1 (I slacked sophomore year but my junior/senior year I had 3.7 average)
SATs (old): 1850

Hopefully we will hear within the next month or two, it seems like Northeastern sends out transfer decisions kind of late compared to other colleges.

Do you guys know when we’ll get decisions?

Hey does anyone know how soon after sending in my app I should get access to the Northeastern application portal?

@bettycrocker03 I got my access info about 3-4 days after submitting

Do you mind telling me why you’re transferring out? I applied to LMU as a transfer!

sure! lmu is a wonderful school; the campus is absolutely beautiful, the facilities are great, and the professors really know their stuff. i’m leaving for a bunch of reasons but the main ones are that i’m too far from home (i’m from connecticut), they don’t have my major (i came in undeclared but figured out i want to do music industry which they don’t offer), and most noticeably for me, west coast culture just isnt for me. most of the students here are from california and i’ve found that i don’t quite fit in. also i’m jewish and being at jesuit school is just kind of uncomfortable for me lol. they don’t try and push their religion on you or anything but i’ve met like 4 other jewish people and i come from a predominantly jewish town so i miss having that connection with people. also there’s a general feeling on campus that it’s a “second choice school”- nearly everyone who goes applied to usc and didn’t get in so ended up at lmu as a second choice.

(not to mention the insane tuition and how conservative they are with scholarships)

Hello all! I am new to cc and applying to a few schools. I figure I might as well post my stats and would love some honest feedback, no matter how harsh. I do not want to have any regrets when applying to schools. So, I am applying to schools that I know are a big reach.

Objective

HS GPA 3.0 – poor, I know:( I explain why in personal statement

MI Community College – 3.84 ( not including Mid-Term report, which is a 4.0)

Large upward trend

Fall 2015 – 3.668 (A- in Introductory french 1, but A in Intermediate 1 and A in IM 2 on MD report)

Winter 2016 – 3.82 (A- in introductory french 2, but A later in Intermediate 1 and A in IM 2 on MD report)

Summer 2016 – 4.0

Fall 2016 – 4.0

Winter 2016 – 4.0 on mid-term report

I have All A’s except for 3 A- and a B- in Fall 2015 in honors comp-1

I received an A in english comp-2.

My course load is very rigorous. It is as hard as it gets for a CC. Several honors courses

A’s in honors micro, honors gov, intermediate french 1, statistics, macro, and several more. I will graduate with an Associate of Arts this semester with honors.

Personal Statement

I poured my heart into it. In hs, both my parents lost their jobs, my home was foreclosed, we relied on others for housing, my family went on food stamps, and I worked at McDonald’s to support my family. I explained how this resulted in my fascination for all things related to government and as a result, wanting to major in poli sci with the intention of becoming a lawyer. I also explained how a higher education will allow me to support my mom. I think it explains my life, motives, and why I am doing what I am doing. TBH very proud of it. Overall 9.5/10 IMO

LOR-- I have three. One from French, Econ, and head of honors program and experiential learning. I believe they are all excellent.

EC’s – I will only list college.

Work at McDonald’s for several hours a week

Elected president of leadership club.

VP of an academic club

Volunteer work with Dementia Patients

Very involved in my chabad. I’m very active in the Jewish Community

Leader of Jewish youth group

Research this summer at U of M–Ann Arbor

Again, I realize this is not a chance me thread, but would love to interact with all of you about the transfer process

MISC

Accepted to Umich in early February for Fall 2017 and Brandeis (need-aware) for Spring 2017, but chose to stay at my cc. I am also tri-lingual
