Northeastern University Transfer Thread Fall 2017

did anyone get a decision from ccis

@redpucca I received the email at 4:00 today!

@intagi Yes, I did. Accepted with 10k scholarship but financial aid package not available yet.

Congratulations to everyone who got in!

To anyone who applied to the CCIS, do you mind sharing your stats?

Good luck to anyone who’s still waiting.

@intagi I did. Accepted with a good amount of financial aid/scholarships.

does anyone know how to submit syllabi for evaluation?

Did anyone get rejected?

There are no rejections until the final wave - they accept students every few weeks and I think based on yield they then stop in June and reject the remaining applications - as far as we know from prior years at least.

@DoronG I’ve never shared my stats before so I don’t know what to say lol. But I’m happy to answer any questions or if you have a template for stats I can answer those.

@PengsPhils Based on last year’s thread, there were some rejections during the first wave

@Iapplyanywhere for stats just listing College GPA, high school GPA, and SATs would be the most helpful!

is it possible that they update merit scholarships later?

@transfer332 if that’s the case then here I go:
CC GPA: 3.79
HS GPA: 3.8 Weighted (graduated top 10, my HS is one of the worst in my state)
SAT: ~1300/2400 (not required to submit :smiley: )
Recc Letter: from 1 Professor & 1 state politician

@Iapplyanywhere

Thanks! That helps out a lot.

I personally have a 3.8GPA major GPA (have all As this semester as well). About 45 major credits at my current college.

I had 2 professors that know me fairly well write my recommendations.

I didn’t do too well in high school (graduated 2012), but have an exponential upwards slope when looking at my grades.

My personal essay talked about how serving in the Israel Defense Forces (volunteered to serve in the Israeli army for a couple years) affected me and how I’ve changed/matured since high school (written in a very clever way, rather than a humble brag).

Everyone I know is telling me not to worry, but I’m honestly scared that admissions is going to look too much into how I was in high school rather than in the past 2 years (top of my class, dean’s list, etc) in college.

Also, I submitted my application on the last day and all my supporting documentation arrived prior to the April 15th deadline.

Side note:
Did anyone notice that in the app status check, the April 15th deadline was changed to:

“In order to receive a decision, all required supporting documentation must be received by May 5, 2017.”

Hi everyone! I just found this discussion and I thought I would post something. I’m waiting to hear back from Northeastern too! When do you think the next wave will be?

@falt11

Either this upcoming Friday (4/28) or the next (5/5).

Not guaranteed, but it seems to be every 1-2 weeks on Fridays.

Was accepted as a Comm Studies major yesterday. Super surprised as this was a reach for me. High school GPA was 3.0, college GPA 3.8. SAT score (old version of the SAT) was approx. somewhere in the high 1700s. Hope you all hear back soon!

Did everyone get the $10,000 scholarship?

@Dontskipthemoose I got it too. Seems like everyone in the first wave go it.

I didn’t expect to get in let alone get the scholarship! BU gave me no money at all so I was expecting the same from NeU.
