I got 14k a year at Northeastern (and plan on doing 3.75 years of academics) and half tuition and honors program at Bentley (i also would run for their d2) and I am having a lot of trouble deciding. I love Northeastern and it is my first choice, but am having trouble convincing myself that it is worth the price difference. Any opinions?
Thanks guys,
a stressed out senior
@njrunner what is your prospective major
Undecided business for now but thinkingn about nonprofit management @justinn76
Honestly, I’d say it comes down to finances and where you want a job. Also what you want out of a college. Bentley seems like a more secluded/small campus while Northeastern is right in the heart of Boston. Either way, you’ll have access to a great city for business. But I would venture to say that Bentley isn’t known very well outside of the northeast.
@kcirtap35 Bentley is a very well known in the business world and boasts better career services than Northeastern
I am also between Bentley and NU. However i plan to transfer to another school so which one has a better reputation? or where can i get a better GPA ( I work hard) -undecided business
Don’t be stressed out! It will all work out! I will only tell you what I know from what some of my daughters friends have told me and from what I’ve seen. My daughter graduated last year from Bentley, she had a confirmed job by Thanksgiving, this was not from an internship. With Bentleys career services she was able to gain interviews with several great companies. She received multiple offers. One would say she was “lucky”. Not the case. All of her friends received jobs also. She became quite friendly (through an internship) with some girls from Northeastern. They are graduating in May. One girl may actually become her roommate, if she can find a job. They are all complaining about the career services. They seem to feel they are basically on their own finding a job. They say it is not like Bentley where the companies come onto campus to do the interviews. I’m only telling you what this group of girls told me a few weeks ago. We loved Bentley. We also, currently, have a “stressed out senior” who’s trying to decide between Bentley, BU and Fordham for a finance degree. We cannot complain about one thing about Bentley (tuition aside - ha ha) but he needs to make his own decision for himself. I suggest you go to both open houses for accepted students and see if anything has changed. Ultimately, you need to be happy wherever you choose. Sometimes when you revisit, its not as nice as you remember. Or you’ll love it more and know it’s “home”. I wish you the best of luck. You cannot go wrong with either school. Best of luck to you and whatever you decide you will be successful!
That group of girls are losers. If they are having trouble finding a job it is because of the way they present themselves. Companies interview on campus at Northeastern just like at most every school. Northeastern’s career services are rated number one in a variety of surveys. Bentley isn’t far behind.
