Northeastern University vs Boston University (Student Life)

Hi All,
I have been accepted to Boston and Northeastern as a Sophomore transfer, and I am trying to decide between them. I do love the COOP program, but one thing is holding me back from choosing Northeastern, that is I just don’t know as much about the social experience there. I have friends at BU and I’ve been able to spend time there so I feel like I have a better sense. I really like all the opportunities they have, like independent theater groups, debate club, improv clubs, etc. It seems like a very robust college experience. Does NEU have the same to offer, and are people engaged on campus?
I know we all tend to become quite devoted to our schools, but I’m looking for an objective answer. I think they are both great schools, I’m just wondering about this particular area.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

Full bias disclosure, I’m a Northeastern student, but I looked at both schools and while it was a better fit for me, I’m well aware that both are very good schools and for others and it really comes down to fit and criteria between the two.

I think it’s fair to say that while BU may offer slight advantages as a full college experience, Northeastern also offers theatre clubs, improve clubs, an acapella community, and more. If I had to rank the schools in the “robust college experience category”, BU would get an 8.5, NEU a 7. Northeastern has over 300 clubs - there’s plenty of options - most big schools offer that. Northeastern is affected socially by co-op, but the effect is minimal - clubs are run by semesters instead of by year, and a semester absence for co-op is usually very easy to accommodate.

If you have any more specific questions on NEU social life I’d love to help

Great answer, thanks! I will definitely follow up with some more questions at some point
