I searched old threads and could find nothing about the MT program at this school. I know they offer a BM with a concentration in MT. Does anyone have any experience with the program or know anybody who has information?

It is Northweastern you are thinking of, not Northeastern.

actually- I am asking about Northeastern in Boston.

Oh, sorry, I never heard of Northeastern having an MT program. I would love to look into that too.I guess we can just look at their website. I sort of remember someone mentioning it being a school with strong student run musicals but not a strong major but I will definitely check it out.

We visited last summer and decided not to pursue it largely because it was a 5 year program and we did not feel like paying 5 years of tuition for what was going to be a safety school for her.

Living around Boston myself, I can say that a lot of people around here don't consider Northeastern's MT program to be one that attracts serious performers. This is not an all-encompassing opinion, just that of people I've been around. Northeastern has an amazing business program, so perhaps if someone is considering a business minor this would be a good option.

Here is their website for the theatre department.

I see nothing about MT.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

anothermom,
I'd recommend looking at Rhode Island College. If you're looking for a non-audition program as a safety in the area, they have a theatre major with musical theatre concentration which is reputable in the area. I'm looking there myself as a non-audition backup. It's also a lot less expensive than Northeastern.

Thanks...I will look into that.

Another non audition BA program with a musical theater concentration in that region is UNH.

Thanks Soozievt, you are always a great source of info.
