Hello, my D Applied to Northeastern University for the class of 2024 recently. Ever since she applied, we have not received one single email from the University. Prior to her application, we used to receive messages all the time about financial aid, programs, etc. Since NU is one of her top choices, you can imagine that this is making us very nervous. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? We received a confirmation of her application and then SILENCE. In contrast, other schools that she applied to, are bombarding her with emails about the benefits of attending their schools. Help!
This can’t possibly mean anything about her as there’s no way they reviewed the application yet. It could be that Northeastern is trying to see if the amount emails after applying help or hurt yield, or something completely different. I wouldn’t sweat it though since you got the confirmation. It also hasn’t been long since the application it seems…
Thanks…the waiting is the hardest part…you think everything means something. Thanks for the reply
Has your D logged in to her portal to confirm that all required information has been received?
I think she has…not 100% sure. I know she logged in initially to change password. Does this have a connection to email marketing?
@jas766 – No, sorry, did not mean to imply any connection between the two. Should have said that at this point, all she can do is ensure that her application is complete, and wait the (fortunately) short period until decisions are released.
Same here - application is complete and have not had any communication. I am assuming they are going to be pretty busy with ED applications before they worry about the EA pool.
Same here for S20 - applied ED and nothing other than acknowledgement of receipt of application.
Mine applied EA on 10/29. Received a fee waiver via snail mail on 11/2. What a tease!
Curious about few wavers…who gets them? DS20 applied so too later regardless.
@curiousme2 We received the fee waiver yesterday via snail mail as well after applying on 10/27. Call the number at the bottom of the letter and they will tell you everything you need to do to get the refund on the application fee.
@type1mom thanks for the suggestion, we’re being refunded as well!
@mtemmd , I saw on another thread someone suggested fee waivers were likely sent to high SAT or ACT folks.
That’s a bummer. S20 turned his EA app in on 10/18 and we did not receive a waiver. So they either knew they had him by the early submit date or a 1510 isn’t high enough.
My D is a freshman at Northeastern. She was accepted EA. She wasn’t given a fee waiver despite a high ACT score. I think there was a period of time when she wasn’t hearing much from them after she applied too. I wouldn’t worry that either of those things means something bad.
After seeing the posts about fee waivers last week, I made an extra stop at our po box, thinking my son would get one. Nothing for him with a 35 on the ACT. When we visited the school, the admissions officer leading our info session mentioned that she reads the applications for our state. My son talked to her after the session, then followed up by email when he decided to apply EA.
My daughter also did not receive a fee waiver. SAT 1560, NMSF, invited to and attended Preview Day in October. She applied EA as well. Fingers crossed!
I’m not 100% if fee waivers are related to SAT scores. I got a fee waiver a few days before submitting my application but after sending my SAT’s. I had a 1430 superscored which isn’t great for NU, although I am an international student (living in the US so did the SAT but still considered international) and my English score was the one holding me back. Either way though I think it’s based on demonstrated interest, I got my waiver after visiting campus and contacting them multiple times regarding admission questions.
