Northeastern University

Hey all,

I graduated from high school in 2004 and left for the USMC a few months after graduation. I got off active duty in 2008. I went to summer school, and had a 4.0, I then went to Southern Ill Univ. Edwardsville, took two semesters and left with a 3.66. Am I a viable canidate for getting into NEU?

Thanks,
Jay

I guess I could put more info down. I was captain of the Varsity football and wrestling teams. I played all four years for both sports. I was a delegate in the student counsel.
In the Marine Corps I was honorable discharged off active duty Infantry as a Sergeant (E-5). My awards consist of:

National Defense Medal
Iraqi Freedom Campaign Medal
War on Terrorism Campaign Medal
Good Conduct Medal
Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal
Combat Action Ribbon
Navy Sea Service Deployment (2).

It took me 3 years and 7 months to be promoted to Sergeant which is outstanding for the infantry. I doubt the school is really concerned about that though.

Yes

My son just started at Northeastern in January after 4 years in the Marines. The school is part of the yellow ribbon program and there are many veterans on campus. I think it is worth a shot at applying, for sure. I would say that you should definitely make your life experiences and your Marine life as part of your personal essay. Best of luck.
